Yesterday's #CyberBlueConMeetup closed out the year with a panel on "2024 Cyber Oops Moments: Lessons from the Frontlines" Reality check: AI isn't perfect in security (shocker!) - we still need the human touch. And apparently, everything still comes down to lawyers... 😅 Holiday wishes from the panel? Let's end SQL injection, no more "password123", and please stop letting strangers tailgate into the building! But some good news out of 2024: 🔷 Cyber isn't just "IT's problem" anymore 🔷 Passkeys are finally catching on 🔷 Everyone's talking about scams (thanks, news media!) 🔷 Companies are getting better at bouncing back from ransomware Huge thanks to the amazing panellists Lloyd Simon of Tanto Security, Claire C. of Bluerydge, Daisy Wong of Medibank, and Harris Wassylko of KPMG, expertly moderated by Joanna Dalton of REA Group, and a massive thanks to Sammy Chuks.. of Sekuro for his endless enthusiasm in making these events happen!

The 2024 AWSN - Australian Women in Security Network Incident Response Competition is done! It was the fourth year we've run this competition - and this year we built another challenging and comprehensive scenario for participants to work through. Each team did an incredible job of investigating the victim network, briefing executives, preparing media statements, and considering the regulatory and legal aspects of the incident. Well done to all of the teams and participants... your willingness to learn, to be challenged, and the breadth of your incident response knowledge and capabilities was on full display throughout this event. And a very big congratulations to the top three placed teams: 🥇 1st Place: Team 14 Kamaea Scott, Nandip Kaur Sagoo, Tandi Chogyel, Sonia Kadyan and Kathy Nguyen. They'll receive SANS vouchers and a mentoring session with the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD). 🥈 2nd Place: Team 20 Lorine Kidiavai, Yeshi Peldon, Olivia Leung, Jacinta Hayward and Shimsha Shetty. Second place prizes include Lumify training vouchers and a one-on-one session with Lynn Moore. 🥉 3rd Place: Team 11 Bonnie Pui Man Cheng, Belinda Lysaght, Chandra Deepti Marri, Jay P and Krithika Venkatarama Subramanian. Third place will receive vouchers from the Cyber Leadership Institute and a mentoring session with Lynn Moore. Industry events like this one are incredibly important as they help to build the cyber skills pipeline here in Australia. We are incredibly grateful for the help and support we received who helped make this event possible, particularly: - The Australian Signals Directorate - who generously sponsored the event! - Our esteemed judges who helped us assess all of the teams and their submissions: Simone V. - Lynn Moore - Shana Uhlmann - Charlotte Davidson (Wood) CISM EMPA - Those who kindly donated prizes: Australian Signals Directorate - SANS Institute - Lumify Group (formerly DDLS Group) - The Expert Leader - Cydarm Technologies for providing teams with access to their cyber response management platform We hope that every team had fun, that you were challenged, and that you walk away from this competition with a sense of achievement, knowledge gained, and even more passion for cyber security (and perhaps you even made some friends along the way too!). Well done! #AWSN2024winner

🚀 Cyber BlueCon#6: A Huge Success! 🚀 We had an amazing time at the latest Cyber BlueCon event! The atmosphere was electric, and the room was engaged throughout the evening. 💥 Our featured speaker Giresh Mulani delivered a compelling presentation on Designing and Implementing Secure Wireless Networking for both home and enterprise environments. Attendees learned about the strengths and weaknesses of various Wi-Fi technologies, with real-world case studies demonstrating how hackers can exploit vulnerabilities in wireless networks. 🔐💻 The talk covered essential topics such as: - Common attacks like evil-twin attacks, wardriving, and disassociation attacks 📡 - Misconfigurations and lookalike SSIDs that put networks at risk 🔎 - Practical strategies for bolstering wireless security in different settings 🔒 The workshop session took things up a notch with a hands-on wireshark CTF #malwareonthewire. Attendees dove into traffic analysis of a RedLine Stealer Pcap file, competing for prizes as they uncovered the malicious activity hidden in the data. 🏆🎁 The lively workshop atmosphere made for an exciting and educational experience. We’re already looking forward to the next Cyber BlueCon session, which will be announced soon. Stay tuned! 📅🔥 To speak or run a workshop at one of our events, please complete the form below or DM me for more information: https://lnkd.in/gbQkkmym Thank you to Cydarm Technologies Stone & Chalk Sekuro CyberLynk for sponsoring the event #CyberBlueCon #WirelessSecurity #CyberSecurity #WiFiHacking #MalwareAnalysis #RedLineStealer #EthicalHacking #Networking #CyberLynk #EventRecap #TechCommunity #LearningAndDevelopment
