Building our community, and spreading awareness 🧡 Alzheimer’s Heroes is built around our community and sharing the experiences of people and families affected by Alzheimer’s Disease 😢 Last month we took part in our first fundraising event for Alzheimer’s Heroes where we spoke to people about Alzheimer’s Disease 🧠 It was refreshing to speak to Simeon Cohen who despite not having anyone affected by Alzheimer’s Disease still found it relatable to want to make a difference 🙏 The event generated over £10,000 for Alzheimer's Research UK but most importantly exposed over 150 people to Alzheimer’s Disease and the need to take more action now We would love to get more people involved in our campaign an our community. Please share to anyone who this may be of interest to ❤️ #alzheimersprevention #alzheimerscare #alzheimersawareness #dementiasupport #alzheimerscaregiver #alzheimersheroes #runningforacure

It’s been an amazing start to our campaign and our first fundraising event hosted with ADS RE was unbelievable. It was truely inspiring seeing over 150 people been involved in helping raise funds for Alzheimer's Research UK and spread awareness around Alzheimer’s Disease. We are constantly on the look out for more sponsors and supporters to help join our campaign so if you would like to be involved please reach out and get in touch through direct message or via our email [email protected]
Last Friday we were immensely proud to host the ADS RE Charity 5 A Side tournament in support of Alzheimer's Research UK, for a cause very close to us. The property industry showed a huge amount of support, with 20 teams and over 150 people attending on the day. Thank you to all of you who took part. We also had an amazing group of sponsors and partners who contributed to making the day happen. We are delighted to be ahead of our target fundraise and pushing towards £10,000. If anyone would like to still donate please do so using the below link. https://lnkd.in/e3yxAeJc Well done to cup winners Welbeck Real Estate Advisors LLP and plate winners Bruce Gillingham Pollard. Looking forward to next year's tournament where we hope to see everyone who participated this year, as well as other's who couldn't make it this time around. We want to inspire people to take action Even though Nick knew very little about Alzheimer's, hearing George's experience of losing his Dad really struck a chord with him and wanted to make a change for his future and his family. Good luck to all the team who are running for @alzheimersresearchuk at the Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday 💜 Thank you for being inspired by our message and being a valued Alzheimer's Hero Nick. Running for a cure 🏃♂️🧡 Please share with anyone who has been affected by Alzheimers, follow our journey, support our cause. Losing a loved one to Alzheimer’s Disease 💔Losing a loved one is never easy, accepting and moving on with life after the loss of Dad to Alzheimer’s Disease was something I found very difficult to accept In the end I decided to shed more light around my dads death and use our story as a catalyst for change on Alzheimer’s Disease with the hope to build a brighter future for the next generation where we can one day fine a cure Running was my escape, it allowed me the space to connect with Dad and fuelled the start of my campaigning for @alzheimersresearchuk I always said my marathon journey had not ended after London last year and Dad I have kept my word, I am ready to embark on a new campaign but this time I am bringing people with me @alzheimersheroes It’s time 🙏 #alzheimers #dementia #alzheimersawareness #alzheimerscare #alzheimerscaregiver #alzheimersprevention #dementiaawareness #dementiaawareness #runningforacure #dementiasupport

Near the end dad would no longer shower It’s horrible to talk about, but the reality for us as a family looking after my dad who was diagnosed with early onset dementia, Alzheimer’s disease meant at 65 years of age he refused to shower Behavioural changes presented in many different ways throughout my dad’s Alzheimer’s battle. However at the later stages of his diagnosis dad would refuse to shower, often refusing to change clothes and general hygiene became a problem. As a family we had to force dad into showering, in the hope of him avoiding getting infections and trying to help with his overall hygiene and welfare The support provided for us as family was limited, for us this was just one of many behavioural change due to the Alzheimer’s that we as a family had to tackle It’s my hope by sharing our story it inspires others to come forward and shed more light on Alzheimer’s disease. Please support and share our story and the community we are building @alzheimersheroes #alzheimersawarenessmonth #dementiaawareness #alzheimers #runningforacure #alzheimersdisease #alzheimersinspiration #dementiasupport #alzheimerscare #alzheimersheroes

The speed in which we see the effects of Alzheimer’s can become very quick. It’s quite simply a disease you would not wish on your worst enemy For my dad there was early signs of Alzheimer’s, from forgetting our names, to slowly struggling with simple tasks such as making a cup of tea As a family navigating the challenges of living with someone with Alzheimer’s was hard. The reality was no one around us really knew enough about dad’s condition and the reasons for his behaviour. At first we struggled to cope with understanding dads behaviours ourselves and the support we had was limited Asking dad a simple question at times was such a difficult task. He knew himself he should have known the answer to one of our questions but Alzheimer’s disease itself would not allow his brain to function well enough to find the right answer We need to encourage and create better support structures to help those living with the disease and also for the caregivers who are supporting their loved ones It’s to late for my dad but we won’t stop until we can find a cure to help others in the future #alzheimersawarenessmonth #endalzheimers #alzheimer #dementiaawareness #alzheimerscare #runningforacure #demwntiaprevention #alzheimersprevention #alzheimersresearch #aruk #alzheimersheroes

Last year George ran the London Marathon in honour of his dad Andy who passed away with Alzheimer's disease. This is a reminder that anyone from anywhere can be affected with this horrible disease - including family and friends. Running helped the clarity around his loss and was a massive grieving process for him. Together, let's build a community of hope, supporting each other through the toughest of times. 💙 Please share with anyone who has been affected by Alzheimers, follow our journey, support our cause. Together, we're Alzheimer's Heroes, running for a cure. 🏃♂️🧡 #alzheimersawareness #alzheimersdisease #alzheimersprevention #alzheimerscommunity #dementia #dementiaawareness

Reflecting on the journey we've walked, losing my father-in-law to Alzheimer's was a heart-wrenching experience that reshaped our lives in ways we never imagined. Despite his memory fading, our bond only grew stronger, filled with cherished moments and unspoken understanding. Losing him at such a young age left an indelible mark, reminding us of the fragility of life and the importance of treasuring every precious moment together. His legacy lives on in our hearts, inspiring us to advocate, raise awareness, and fight for a future without Alzheimer's. Together, let's build a community of hope, supporting each other through the toughest of times. 💙 Please share with anyone who has been affected by Alzheimers, follow our journey, support our cause. Together, we're Alzheimer's Heroes, running for a cure. 🏃♂️🧡
