The report highlights that renewable sources now supply nearly half of the UK's electricity needs, marking a 15% rise over the past decade. It's an exhilarating time to be part of this dynamic sector. As we shift more rapidly towards renewable energy, the impact on job creation and local economies is significant. The sector currently employs 143,000 people, with solar photovoltaic leading the charge in job growth. I attended an insightful webinar recently which discussed the current landscape of MGA’s in 2024 and their success and performance in the current market. It’s encouraging to see MGA’s continuing to show impressive levels of growth, highlighting a sense of optimism within the industry. The current softening market conditions suggest numerous opportunities for continuing to developing niche products. Success will largely depend on how agile and flexible MGAs are in adapting. The most successful MGA’s on the market right now have a few things in common: 💠 They are in touch with the trends within their specialty areas. 💠 Prioritizing customer centricity, with quick response time being crucial. 💠 Agile & adaptive from a both a customer and regulatory standpoint. 💠 They are actively garnering as much data as possible to leverage their position in streamlining operations/future success. 💠 Investing in the talent of the future In the US, I’m hiring for Senior Underwriters, Producers & Account Executives across the Energy & Construction market. Looking forward to a productive day in Aberdeen today as we head towards the end of a frustrating week. This week's frustration? Audits. We get audited a lot. That's fine, and I see it as a clean bill of health when we pass, hopefully giving our clients reassurance that their initial due diligence was worth it. The question arises when somebody fails an audit for profiteering - what are the consequences? Is it immediate termination? A slap on the wrists? Or is it dealt with quietly and without consequence? There is also the case for companies not auditing forensically in fear of uncovering bad news. The recruitment industry can't improve if there are no consequences. An interesting topic came up in the office today… 💡 We’re noticing a growing trend which is that more and more candidates are actively looking to transition into the renewable energy sector. With the government ramping up its investment in green energy and the gradual phase out of oil and gas, it’s clear that upskilling the workforce will soon become essential to meet the increasing demands of the industry. In many ways, skills are quickly becoming the new currency. Finding the right talent who not only fits the technical requirements but also brings the right mindset and adaptability will be more valuable than ever.
