🌍 UK Renewable Energy: A Bright Future Ahead! 🌱 The latest REA REview report brings fantastic news for the UK's renewable energy sector! 🚀 Our industry saw remarkable growth, rising 6% to a value of £24.38bn in 2022/23. With this momentum, we're on track to surge to an impressive £41bn by 2030. The report highlights that renewable sources now supply nearly half of the UK's electricity needs, marking a 15% rise over the past decade. It's an exhilarating time to be part of this dynamic sector. As we shift more rapidly towards renewable energy, the impact on job creation and local economies is significant. The sector currently employs 143,000 people, with solar photovoltaic leading the charge in job growth. What's more, with over 250,000 zero-emission vehicles and 60,000 EV charge points, our strides in renewable transport are equally commendable. The REA advocates for an Office for Net Zero Deployment and a UK Green Taxonomy to streamline and boost green investments. This strategic alignment across government departments is crucial for sustaining our momentum 🌟 Click below to read more! #RenewableEnergy #NetZero #GreenGrowth

Our latest data shows that more than one in four households in the Scottish island regions of Orkney and the Western Isles have an MCS certified renewable energy installation. Orkney has the largest UK uptake of MCS certified renewable energy installations per household, at 28.77% by the end of March 2024. Not far behind are the Western Isles on 25.71%, meaning that more than a quarter of households in both regions have an MCS certified installation. Ian Rippin, CEO of MCS, said: “Homes are responsible for around 15% of Scotland’s greenhouse gases, so we know that small-scale renewables have a crucial role to play in achieving key environmental targets. While our data shows that Scotland is performing well compared to other UK nations – with 8.47% of households now having a certified renewable technology installation, putting it second behind only Wales – this announcement shows that there is still some way to go." What is a Renewable Obligation Certificate? A Renewable Obligation Certificate (ROC) is a key element of the UK’s strategy to encourage the use of renewable energy. It represents proof that a specific amount of renewable electricity has been generated and supplied to the grid. Businesses and electricity suppliers are required to meet a certain quota of their electricity from renewable sources. To demonstrate compliance, they must present ROCs to the government. Each ROC corresponds to one megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable energy produced. Suppliers who exceed their renewable obligations can trade their ROCs with those who fall short, creating a market-driven incentive for increased renewable energy production. This system helps drive investment in green technologies and supports the transition to a cleaner energy future. In our self-sustainable city project, we’re integrating renewable energy solutions and aiming to achieve significant environmental benefits. To learn more about how we’re applying concepts like ROCs to promote sustainability, visit our website. #RenewableEnergy #GreenTechnology #Sustainability #ROCs #CleanEnergy #EcoFriendly #SelfSustainableCity https://lnkd.in/gVdRghVj
