We have partnered with Close Brothers Property Finance & Hurst & Hurst Estates Ltd to secure an exciting new development opportunity within the New Forest National Park that will see 46 energy efficient homes built on a 6 acre site. Of the homes, 50% will be provided as affordable housing, providing much needed housing in an idyllic and rural location. The new homes will incorporate a range of energy efficient measures, including: air source heat pumps, EV charging points, and wastewater heat recovery. The development meets the required government target of 10% biodiversity net gain and elements of the design such as quantity of open space exceed this. Construction is already underway, with the first homes expected to be ready in Q2/3 2025. Huge congratulations to Hugo Trower and Tom Darby for conquering the Silverstone Half Marathon this weekend! Despite battling the miserable weather conditions, they both achieved times they were happy with, and we’ve beaten our fundraising target! Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, the money raised will make such a difference to the children that New Leaf Learning supports. There is still the opportunity to donate if you want to. Every penny raised will go to New Leaf - https://lnkd.in/egGhwHTS

Factors such as an ageing population, increased life expectancy and varying demand for care services have contributed to a shortage of care home beds for the elderly in the UK. Since 2018, Barwood has been investing in elderly care through its partnership with Perseus Land & Developments Limited. We know that care homes play a key role in contributing to a more compassionate, inclusive and socially cohesive society, meeting specialist healthcare needs and providing vital social interaction for residents. Healthcare for the elderly can lead to early detection of health issues, and importantly reduce the overall healthcare burden in the UK. Danielle Sheppard, our Head of Performance and Impact stated: "We are really proud of our work in the care home sector, which forms part of our investment strategy and overall approach to creating a positive impact in line with our core values, where Barwood strives to align purpose with profit." To mark Global Entrepreneurship Week, we asked our MD Hugh Elrington to reflect on what being entrepreneurial means to him and to Barwood… "At Barwood, creating value and delivering strong returns to our investors is at the heart of what we do. Our success comes from identifying unique, often overlooked opportunities, where we transform under-managed/under-performing assets into core investments. We don’t simply follow the market; instead, we actively seek out exciting possibilities that others may miss.” Read Hugh's full thoughts on what drives Barwood's entrepreneurial spirit here: https://lnkd.in/eETHhKqj #GlobalEntrepreneurshipWeek #PropertyInvestment #Entrepreneurship #UKRealEstate

Andrew Barlow, Hugo Trower and Tom Darby are taking on the Silverstone Half Marathon THIS Sunday! They'll be raising money for our chosen charity, New Leaf Learning, who improve the lives of primary school children in Northamptonshire with nature-based, connection-focussed services. Please wish them luck and consider making a donation here: https://lnkd.in/egGhwHTS
New Leaf Learning is making a real difference in our local area in Northamptonshire offering nature-based, connection-focused education for primary school children who struggle in mainstream settings. Their dedication to improving outcomes for these young learners aligns perfectly with our values at Barwood. In November, Andrew Barlow, Hugo Trower and Tom Darby are stepping up to support this fantastic cause and taking on the Silverstone Half Marathon to raise funds! As our chosen charity for the year, this is just the beginning of our partnership, and we can't wait to see the positive impact we can make together. Stay tuned for more updates and ways you can get involved! #charity #marathon #CSR

Barwood is pleased to share that the Building Research Establishment (BRE) has confirmed and certified Richmond Explore as BREEAM Outstanding. This is a remarkable achievement, especially for a back-to-frame refurbishment project! This certification cements Richmond Explore's best-in-class ESG credentials, also including Net Zero in Operation, WiredScore, and Fitwel ratings. In a market where every advantage counts when it comes to yield and future exit values, this BREEAM Outstanding accreditation will make a huge difference. The project faced numerous challenges on the way to practical completion, including market declines and substantial build cost inflation. However, the focus throughout was to secure this high level sustainability rating. We are incredibly proud of the team's hard work and dedication in delivering this outstanding result.
