We have submitted plans to Reading Borough Council on behalf of developer Elder, for the new Greyfriars House co-living scheme. Situated at 20-30 Greyfriars Road, Elder's plans propose demolishing the existing building on-site to make way for a new development. The project includes a part seven, part 13-storey structure, featuring 266 co-living units—comprising 243 standard units and 23 larger, accessible units—designed to meet the applicable co-living design standards. Elder’s co-living concept reimagines urban living by engaging its local community and maintaining strong ties to the local area. Through participation and support for events and wider programs, this project will deliver meaningful connections with the neighbourhood, enhancing quality of life and embedding the development within the local fabric. https://lnkd.in/eAzKtMRP #residentialdesign #architects #buildtorent

Our three #workplace designs for Oval Real Estate have focused on creating adaptable spaces that can easily be reconfigured to meet the changing needs of businesses, such as open floor plans that accommodate both collaborative work and private areas for focused tasks. Sustainability is a key concern, driving the incorporation of energy-efficient systems, sustainable materials, and green building practices. Employee well-being has played an essential role in our designs - spaces that promote health and productivity. R+, Reading Fully repositioned through a contemporary refurbishment, R+ now offers 100,000 sq ft aspirational workspace over five floors in the heart of Reading town centre. Sustainability has underpinned every decision. With all its power coming from 100% renewable sources, the building has a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and EPC A20 ratings. Ealing Cross, London A refurbishment of 130,000 sq ft of office space, offers seven floors of premium Grade A office space, distinguished by an impressive double-height reception that establishes a sense of openness and sophistication upon entry. The design integrates a café lounge club room and well-appointed meeting rooms, creating spaces that promote both productivity and comfort. Practical features such as ample cycle storage and on-site parking are seamlessly incorporated, while flexible working solutions reflect a commitment to adaptability in a dynamic work environment. Fairfax, Bristol Regeneration of a significant commercial landmark in Bristol to compliment the rising demand of modern tenants. Located just moments from Cabot Circus and The Galleries in Bristol’s city centre, The Fairfax offers a refined 14-storey workspace experience over that integrates urban convenience with thoughtful design. Entering through a welcoming club room lounge, tenants are greeted by a concierge in a space that feels more like a boutique hotel than a conventional office. The design emphasizes open, light-filled common areas, including a café lounge, hot yoga studio, flexible event space and various meeting rooms. Alastair Roberts, Managing Director Darling Associates Architects says, “It’s been a pleasure to work with Oval Real Estate and the wider project teams to design and deliver these exemplary workplace projects. With sustainability at the forefront of Oval’s vision, every building and workplace has been designed to be as environmentally efficient as possible. Exciting news about our design project in Bristol. The Welcome Building® has achieved a SmartScore Gold Rating - one of only 11 SmartScore Gold certifications in the UK. #sustainabledesign #architecture #workplace
After much hard work we’re happy to announce that Welcome Building® has achieved a SmartScore Gold Rating – one of only two commercial workspaces in Bristol to do so. With just 11 SmartScore Gold certifications in the UK, we’re not only one of the best-in-class smart buildings in the city but also across the country! The rating recognises an enhanced user experience that will deliver cost efficiencies, resilience and high standards of sustainability. Occupiers will also benefit from a Building App, which implements the Equiem platform, a WiredScore-accredited solution that offers modularity to meet specific occupier needs. As Toby Pentecost Senior Vice President and head of UK offices Trammell Crow Company commented: “Today’s workplaces need to be smarter, and we are setting the bar for Bristol. Earning both SmartScore Gold and WiredScore Platinum certification sets Welcome Building® apart in the city’s leasing market. Today’s occupiers are more discerning and demand more from their premises. We are responding to their ESG standards and requirements and delivering what they need.” You can also find out more about SmartScore Gold below. Athina Athiana, one of our Project Architects was invited for the second consecutive year to teach one of the Introductory workshops for the B-Pro postgraduate program at the The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL. Generating architectural spaces using a custom Cellular Automata–Game of Life algorithm, students designed modular pieces, observed emergent behaviours, and applied AI-driven ControlNet diffusion models to create and visualize architectural scenarios across London. #givingback #futurearchitects #ai #experience
At Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London introductory workshop 2, we explored generating architectural spaces using a custom Cellular Automata–Game of Life algorithm, where students designed modular pieces, observed emergent behaviors, and applied AI-driven ControlNet diffusion models to create and visualize architectural scenarios across London. It has been exciting to explore advanced computational tools and AI at a postgraduate level, particularly in how they revolutionize the way we design and visualize spatial qualities.
