John Krasinski Can't Escape 'The Office' Fandom in 'SNL' Hosting Debut, Kisses Pete Davidson

John Krasinski was previously scheduled to host last March, but the show was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic

John Krasinski has officially joined the long list of Saturday Night Live hosts.

The actor, 41, kicked off his debut as SNL host by portraying Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady in the "What Still Works" cold open opposite Kate McKinnon.

And during his monologue, Krasinski was bombarded with fan questions about The Office, in which he starred as Jim Halpert for nine seasons. "To be here now on this historic stage is nothing short of mind-blowing for me because," he said before he was interrupted by an audience member, played by Alex Moffat, who said: "Hey Jim, I have a question. My question is you're Jim from The Office."

Though Krasinski clarified that he wasn't in character as Jim to host the show, he was asked, "Follow-up question: Do The Office," and "Hey, where's Pam?"

Then another fan, played by Ego Nwodim, pointed out that Krasinski, who has been working out for his role as Jack Ryan, looked different than his days on the hit NBC comedy. "You need to stop it. Jim is soft. Jim sits all day, you know you touch Jim and your hand goes in like memory foam," she said.

Lastly, one more fan, played by Kenan Thompson, joined in the chorus of Office die-hards. "Kiss Pam, I need you to kiss Pam. That is what I need to see today," he said as Krasinski once again attempted to clarify to the group that he's moved on from his Office days.

"Guys, here's the deal. Pam's not real. She's played by Jenna Fischer, we're just friends and we are married to other people," said Krasinski, who noted that his wife Emily Blunt was not in attendance and was in the U.K.

Then, the first-time host was assisted by Pete Davidson. "I think what's been happening is everyone's been stuck inside for a year watching The Office non-stop so Jim and Pam are like really real for them," Davidson explained before Thompson's character asked Krasinski: "Is that Pam?"

But Davidson didn't mind. "I think they really need for someone to be Pam," he said before Krasinski double-checked, "Really? I mean I tried to explain to them that Pam is not actually...," before Davidson stopped him. "I think we got to give them what they want Jim. Jim you gotta kiss Pam," the comedian said before the two men locked lips.

Later in the show, the Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan star sang his own version of The Office theme song.

Krasinski was previously scheduled to host in March 2020 before his appearance was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. On Saturday, he was joined by musical guest Machine Gun Kelly, who also made his SNL debut.

Krasinski's hosting duties on SNL comes after news broke that the release of the sequel to his hit movie A Quiet Place has once again been delayed due to the ongoing health crisis.

A Quiet Place II, which also stars his wife Emily Blunt, will now be postponed to Sept. 17 after originally being set to on March 20, 2020.

The next two SNL shows will also feature a series of firsts following Krasinski's hosting gig — Dan Levy will host next week joined by Phoebe Bridgers, and Regina King and singer-songwriter Nathanial Rateliff will take on the week after. All are first time hosts or musical guests.
