Recently, the Netflix series' stars, Nikki Rodriguez, Ashby Gentry and Noah LaLonde, took a quick break from filming the anticipated second season to attend a Halloween bash, and their group costume is going viral. As their characters find themselves in the middle of a dramatic love triangle, they decided to pay homage to one of 2024’s most iconic love triangles: Challengers. In a TikTok shared by Rodriguez, the trio showed off their looks, which featured the actress as tennis star-turned-coach Tashi (Zendaya), Gentry as Patrick (Josh O'Connor) and LaLonde as Art (Mike Faist). While Rodriguez donned a white tennis dress, Gentry and LaLonde could be seen in the background recreating the infamous churro scene from the film. Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE about his partnership with Invisalign, Gentry, 25, says the now-viral costume was a super last-minute decision. “There was a cast member was throwing a Halloween party, and we were all spit-balling ideas of what we were going to be. We went to a Spirit Halloween and we were like ‘Oh, maybe we'll get basic costumes or whatever,’” Gentry recalls of his conversation with his costars. “And then I looked at them and I was like, ‘Dude, we should be the Challengers love triangle.’” He admits Rodriguez and LaLonde were a bit apprehensive at first, though he eventually talked them into it. “They were a little scared at first,” he explains. “They were like, ‘Are you sure that's a good idea? Will people think that's too much or whatever?’ And I was like, ‘No, that's exactly why we should do it.’ So then we went to Goodwill and threw the costumes together in like 10 minutes.” He adds that he was surprised about who ended up dressing up as who for the group costume. “I was surprised that I was Patrick because Alex is definitely more Art than Patrick,” he says, comparing his character on My Life with the Walter Boys to the characters in Challengers. “I think it was just because of the hair, they were like, ‘It works better if you're Patrick.’ So it was nice to step into that, the shoes of the other guy first for a change and not be the good guy for once.” Nikki Rodriguez as Jackie and Ashby Gentry in My Life with the Walter Boys. Courtesy of Netflix While the cast has another Halloween costume planned for the actual holiday, since they’re all filming together on Oct. 31, he teases that he’d love to do another love triangle costume if the show gets renewed for season 3. “If people watch season 2 and we come back and do season 3 and that happens over Halloween, I don't see how we could not do a group costume. I kind of like the idea of doing other love triangles,” he says, noting they could potentially pay homage to another hit teen drama, The Vampire Diaries.
