A Starlink dish and router seized by security forces from rebels in Manipur have been judged inoperable and incompatible with the region. Forensic examinations indicated that the gadgets, tagged with the Starlink insignia, could not operate in the state bordering Myanmar. "The devices had definitive markings of Starlink, but they are incompatible in this region," a senior officer said. The equipment was returned to the Department of Telecommunications and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology for further investigation. Initial investigations indicate the devices were inoperable, but additional forensic reports are required. Significant delays have been noted in the completion of Court of Inquiry (CoI) hearings in the Indian Army, according to a recent report submitted to Parliament by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India. The research looked at financial loss instances from three Army Commands (Central, Eastern, and Western) for the year that ended in March 2021. Only 46 and 25 of the 95 instances that were reviewed met the deadlines for convening and finishing CoIs, respectively. Eleven cases—some lasting up to 11 years—took longer than two years, which is shocking. Incomplete terms of reference, inconsistent convening order issuance, and insufficient loss assessment and responsibility allocation were all mentioned in the study. An estimated ₹50.76 crore in total financial loss was determined, but ₹43.64 crore remains unregularised due to incomplete reporting to accounting authorities. Along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the freezing heights of Ladakh, the Indian Army's Fire and Fury Corps displayed its operational skills in a stunning demonstration of military readiness. The Army's artillery regiments demonstrated pinpoint firepower at temperatures as low as -35°C and at an elevation of over 14,500 feet, showing their professionalism and readiness throughout the year. This protest coincides with continuous attempts by China and India to disengage at strategic places of contention, such as Demchok and Depsang Plains. Both countries' recent resumption of patrolling operations indicates that tensions have decreased. The military exercises, however, highlight India's steadfast attention to border security despite ongoing diplomatic discussions. The famous picture of the 1971 Bangladesh war surrender has been replaced by a new artwork called Karam Kshetra—Field of Deeds, which currently hangs in the Army Chief's lounge. The picture, which Lt. Col. Thomas Jacob made of the 28 Madras regiment, highlights the Indian Army as a "guardian of Dharma," fusing the knowledge of ancient writings with the idea of a cutting-edge, contemporary military force. The artwork features a variety of aspects, such as the Pangong Tso from Ladakh, Garuda, Krishna's chariot, Chanakya, and cutting-edge military hardware such as local tanks and helicopters. According to Army Insiders, it honors India's strategic intelligence, moral strength, and civilizational ethos while demonstrating the Army's willingness to defend its boundaries and ideals. Indian Army soldiers saved a Himalayan Brown Bear cub stuck in a tin container in an unidentified, snow-covered area in a heartwarming act of kindness. The cub—later named Bahadur—was discovered with its head lodged in a metal container, distraught and defenceless. Despite the problematic high-altitude circumstances, the soldiers' cautious and sympathetic attitude is demonstrated in a widely shared video of the rescue effort. To ensure the cub was safe, they tried to remove the can by hand before turning to tools. With careful work, they were able to free Bahadur. The soldiers then gave the cub food to aid in its recuperation before it was able to return to the wild safely. The Supreme Court chastised the Indian Army on Monday for denying Lt Col. Suprita Chandel a permanent commission, emphasizing the injustice of forcing personnel to litigate for legitimate perks. A bench of Justices Bhushan R Gavai and K.V. Viswanathan authorized the Army to grant Chandel a permanent commission and all associated benefits retrospectively. Lt Col Chandel, commissioned in the Army Dental Corps in 2008, was refused the opportunity to take a departmental test due to a 2013 regulatory revision that imposed a 35-year age limit and a postgraduate qualification requirement. Despite a 2014 Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) verdict that benefited officers in similar situations, Chandel was disqualified since she did not participate in the initial litigation while on maternity leave. During meticulously coordinated operations in Manipur, security personnel retrieved a stockpile of weaponry, ammunition, and warlike supplies. The Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police worked together to recover many bodies from Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, and Thoubal districts. On December 2, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police executed a strategic operation in Kangpokpi district's Loiching Ridge area based on particular intelligence. The search turned up a sniper rifle, a Lathode gun, two 9mm pistols, an SBBL gun, and ammunition.
