The Supreme Court chastised the Indian Army on Monday for denying Lt Col. Suprita Chandel a permanent commission, emphasizing the injustice of forcing personnel to litigate for legitimate perks. A bench of Justices Bhushan R Gavai and K.V. Viswanathan authorized the Army to grant Chandel a permanent commission and all associated benefits retrospectively. Lt Col Chandel, commissioned in the Army Dental Corps in 2008, was refused the opportunity to take a departmental test due to a 2013 regulatory revision that imposed a 35-year age limit and a postgraduate qualification requirement. Despite a 2014 Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) verdict that benefited officers in similar situations, Chandel was disqualified since she did not participate in the initial litigation while on maternity leave. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) 's Agniveer plan has emerged again in political discourse as the party and its partners in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) consider forming a government. The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) [LJP] and Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)] have called for an examination of the plan, pointing out its flaws. Understanding the Agniveer Scheme The Agniveer program, launched by the Central Government in June 2022, hires young people between the ages of 17 and a half and 21 on a four-year contractual basis. These "Agniveers" leave the government after serving their term and receive a certificate and a "Seva Nidhi" of Rs 11.71 lakh. Only 25% of Agniveers are kept as Junior Commissioned Officers in the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force for a 15-year service tenure. Despite its goal of revitalizing and modernizing India's armed forces, the Agniveer project has been heavily criticized. The BJP and its partners must carefully navigate these issues to preserve coalition unity and successfully address popular frustrations. 𝐀𝐆𝐍𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐄𝐑 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐌𝐄- 𝐂𝐀𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐀𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐘 𝐀𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐎𝐋𝐃𝐈𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐄𝐄 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐄𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐄𝐃 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐂𝐄𝐒 | The Agnipath scheme once again seized the people's attention when LoP Rahul Gandhi met the mother of martyr Cpt. Anshuman Singh. Martyr's mother appealed to the centre to bring possible changes to strengthen the armed forces. Agniveer scheme was announced in June 2022. The scheme is for both male and female candidates aged between 17.5 to 21 years. Recruits named Agniveer serve for a four-year tenure which includes six months of training followed by 3.5 years of deployment. Of these recruits, 75% will be released at the end of four years with a lump sum pension payment, while the remaining 25% will be retained for 15 more years. 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐦: People believe that it entails operational inefficiencies and security risks. Two sets of rules for Agniveer recruits and regular soldiers of the same battalion undermine unit cohesion and effectiveness, which is crucial for combat readiness and success and that the motivation and training required for effective infantry units cannot be achieved within the short tenure. 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞: The Indian Army is going to make major changes in the Agniveer scheme based on an internal survey. These changes include increasing the service period from four years to eight years, increasing the retention rate of Agniveers to 60-70% and increasing the recruitment age for technical services to 23 years. #Agniveer #AnshumanSingh #gallantry #IndianArmy

💥 Strongly Recommended Post & Critical Perspective: Morpheus strongly condemns war, emphasizing that it only kills innocent people on both sides while benefiting politicians, arms dealers, the defense industry, and the state. He references the Doomsday Clock being at 90 seconds to midnight as a dire warning. Morpheus urges hope that humanity's history of aggression—from slavery to the Holocaust and apartheid—does not culminate in nuclear war and the end of humanity. He reminds fellow Africans that South Africa's peaceful status today is due to Nelson Mandela and his peers negotiating peace, and he stresses that Africa should not repeat its turbulent history. Morpheus advocates for peace, believing that nuclear conflict would prevent Africa from achieving self-actualization as a free continent. The bottom line is this: war is super evil, and all it does is kill innocent people on both sides. The only people who win are politicians, arms dealers, the defense industry, and the state. If you haven't noticed, we are only 90 seconds to midnight on the Doomsday Clock—go look it up. Let's all hope that this human stupidity and innate aggression throughout history—from slavery to the Holocaust, apartheid, and all these wars manifested by man—does not end in nuclear war and the end of humanity. I often remind my fellow Africans who think these wars are a good thing that one of the reasons South Africa, a previously nuclear country, is peaceful today is because Madiba Nelson Mandela and his peers on both sides were able to negotiate peace. It's the reason why three or four former American Presidents attended Mandela's 92nd birthday, if memory serves me correctly—something that has never happened before in human history. Africa should never stoop so low as to engage in war, considering its turbulent and unfortunate past. If we do, and nuclear conflict destroys our world, it would mean Africa never achieved self-actualization as a free continent. It would mean the end. 🤓 Morpheus thinks 🌿 Peace 💕 🌿 Learn a lot about 4IRGPT.com knowledge trading for your professional benefit, creativity, productivity, business or organisation through Perplexity AI. Delhi High Court Directs Army to Consider Major General for Promotion Before Retirement, Citing “Arbitrary and Illegal” Actions In a landmark judgment, the Delhi High Court has ordered the Indian Army to reconsider the promotion of Major General Vinayak Saini to the rank of Lieutenant General before his retirement on October 30. The court overturned a previous ruling by the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT), finding that Maj Gen Saini was not considered for promotion in an “arbitrary and illegal manner.” The court emphasized that the officer’s promotion was unjustly withheld due to pending statutory complaints regarding his Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs). The delay in addressing these complaints effectively denied him fair consideration during the Special Selection Board (SSB) in February 2023. Despite the Army’s argument that no vacancies exist in the Corps of Engineers before Maj Gen Saini’s retirement, the court rejected this stance, noting that the timing of the ACR review process appeared deliberately delayed to obstruct his promotion. The High Court highlighted the need for immediate corrective action to avoid the officer’s unjust deprivation of his rightful promotion. The decision underscores the importance of transparency and fairness in military promotions, ensuring that officers are evaluated based on merit and not subject to administrative delays or arbitrary decisions.
