"Google lays off more employees and moves some roles to other countries" 🔴A Google spokesperson confirmed the cuts but declined to elaborate on the number of affected staff. For over 25 years, Google #Search has been satisfying human curiosity one query at a time.  Connecting people with information and inspiration to bring their ideas to life is a timeless challenge: every day, 15% of the searches we see are new, and this has been true for more than a decade. And now generative AI is enabling us to unlock new ways to search and help people engage more deeply. #AI is also helping to remove language and access barriers which make Search even more useful across Asia-Pacific. A great example of this are the AI-generated topic overviews that we’ve started showing at the top of Google Search results — like the one pictured below. These AI Overviews surface richer, more comprehensive answers to complex questions, opening up entirely new avenues for exploration. This feature is now available in many languages across the region, including several in #India, #Indonesia, #Japan and #Korea. AI is also lowering barriers by making it possible to find answers with images, voice, and in your own language. Younger internet users in particular are leaning on Google Lens, which averages at over 20 billion searches a month. This has incredible potential in a region like Asia-Pacific, where young people are hungry to learn and make informed decisions, all with the ease of the phone camera’s lens. The possibilities for satisfying curiosity with AI seem endless. It’s exciting to think of the ways Google Search will help more people unleash their creativity and achieve their full potential as AI continues to advance.

On my second Googleversary the message below really got me thinking about how much I've learned over the past 2 years at Google. It also made me acknowledge how excited I am to shape the future. More recently, I've started working much closer to product and feel super energized by imagining the future and building a roadmap to get us there. What an incredible day we’ve had at #GoogleIO! One year ago, we introduced #Gemini, and today, we’re integrating its capabilities across all our products in powerful ways. My first 6 months at AILY LABS have been an eye-opener: Building & scaling AI-driven product & tech teams requires a completely different approach than what I’ve experienced at larger tech organizations like Zalando or scale-ups like N26 Group and Nuri. At AILY, AI is at the core, and the way teams collaborate, think, and operate is uniquely tailored to that 👾 Different skills and mindset are required to build AI products: It’s about balancing systems thinking with deep domain knowledge, navigating the nuances of how AI & Tech come together, and aligning different value streams in a hyper-agile manner as your UX approach might not work anymore once real data enters the show 📲 AI products magnify the need for adaptability and complexity management due to their unpredictable nature and reliance on real-world data. This adds extra layers of complexity to UX, product development, and operationalization that are typically less pronounced in traditional tech products. One key principle remains: teams must be both customer- and business-obsessed to scale effectively. 👑 I’m both excited and grateful to be learning these things at such an early stage during these disruptive times with an incredible team (and yes, we’re still hiring across product & tech!) 🧗‍♀️ It feels reminiscent of the early days of scaling Mobile App teams when Mobile First was the new frontier! 🤺 Sharing is caring.
