A potential client asked me a great question last week - She shared that the Leadership Lift program sounded great but that she'd love to know more about 'why Jane' when she sells this leadership program to her c-suite. She asked 'What is it about you? What does Jane bring to this that someone else won't?'. I don't think anyone has ever asked me this question before. There were a few things I could share - First, they're in the financial industry and I've worked in HR in that industry before so I understand some of the dynamics, challenges and can speak their language. But when I gave it more thought, I narrowed in on two things I could share with her that makes me a bit different: 1. I take a fresh approach to leadership development that considers the current landscape of workplaces and how the expectations of employees are continuing to evolve. We're digging into what is needed from leaders today and what skills and practices leaders need to build going forward to respond to the evolving talent market and evolving expectations around how we balance performance and well-being in the workplace. 2. My goal is to bring a real spark to new and seasoned leaders that gives them the momentum to start being more intentional about the how they lead and try some new practices and strategies. I endeavour to spark a real mindset shift around how they lead, how they connect with their team and how they drive their vision forward. My favourite thing to hear from past attendees is when they share that the leadership training has left them feeling energized and motivated to move forward and take ownership of their leadership journey. The concept of psychological safety is slowly evolving and thankfully becoming more prevalent in organisations today. We have however, a massive opportunity as leaders to continue to create an environment where innovation can thrive and where our team can flourish buy bringing their true and authentic self to work. The core of it remains to be, can we as leaders be vulnerable. I believe it’s essential for leaders to be vulnerable in order for others to feel safe to do the same. Yes, love this Jen Fisher !   So I’m curious..a question for my network…what’s *your* CEO’s WQ? Assuming 100 is a perfect WQ, if your CEO’s total comp is more than 200% of the average employee’s total comp, I suggest automatically deducting 90 WQ points. If they just oversaw a huge layoff, deduct another 100 points. Why so rough, Kaulen? Because real, authentic, impactful workplace well-being *requires* socially conscious, ethical senior leaders who *can not sleep at night* knowing that so many in their corporate universe (and our world) suffer in fear, insecurity and make huge sacrifices in basic needs while they have more discretionary wealth and security than any human could ever need or use In one singular lifetime. This may be the most important (and most avoided) well-being challenge and change we need to address. And stat.

As the year winds down, I’ve been again reconnecting with organisations I supported earlier with their strategic planning. During these check-ins, I like to ask: 1. How has the strategic plan impacted your team so far? 2. What benefits have you seen from the initiatives you’ve implemented? 3. Are there areas where the plan has delivered unexpected value? 4. What challenges, if any, emerged as you've started to execute the plan? 5. Are there adjustments or new priorities you're considering moving forward?" Checking in provides a valuable opportunity to reflect on progress and take the time to support any adjustments. The Technical Resources consultant team took the day out of the office on Friday for a great workshop run by Anthony Joy We started the session by sharing some of the best advice we have gotten in our life and some of the pearls of wisdom were great; - Leave the past in the past - Control what you can - Find the fun in what you do - Be yourself everyone else is taken - Learn to love yourself - Don't overthing things - Tomorrow never comes - Don't take things personally - Fear is what enables us to get out of your comfort zone and into the growth zone And my personal favourite - it's not what you know, it's the quality of your BS.
