V. The Group Problem

-The members presented their lack of education.
The Definition of the Problem
- Lack of education. Lack of education is the inability of people to acquire
specialized skills, such as cognitive skills, socialization, memorization of facts which
are necessary for personal development and the development of society and the
world economy.
Assessment
Opening Causal
- Based on the information we obtained from the group members, their
problem is that they don’t have the opportunity to learn and get an education as well
as they are uninformed about the programs that interrelated with the education. The
group member originated from Jose Abad Santos, Davao Del Sur and migrated at
Barangay Sinawal for almost 8 years now but not an officially registered voters of
General Santos City most especially of the Barangay.
Change Potential
- the change potential of the problem is that with the help of the Barangay
Sinawal especially with their very active BCPC coordinator it could possibly
addressed and solve, with their coordination of the program Alternative Learning
System. Through the data gathered, the nine (9) members identified out-of-school
youth can be the benefactors of this intervention. That could possibly give a skills
training, basic cognitive education, and socialization among other participants. The
Barangay offered the group to get registered and enrolled to the Alternative Learning
System. The helping team gave an endorsement letter to the Barangay with their
names attached and they only needed to present their physically and get interviewed
by the BCPC coordinator.

Worker’s Professional Judgment

- The team goal is to provide their needs of education, that could possibly
change their lives forever, especially for those young parents that need to improve
their knowledge to get a decent job that pays well. If the problem will not be
immediately addressing the possibility of out-of-school youth will be increases, that
may result of the other social problems.

VII. Evaluation
On March 29, 2023, we, the intern is obliged to conduct a Community
Organizing as well as the Group Work. We came across to these community that
located at Barangay Sinawal, we sent letter of intent to the barangay and conduct a
courtesy call to allow us to enter in their community. Upon entering, the community
is not that well recognized by the Barangay due to their conflict of credentials such
as birth certificates and voters’ registration that addressed in General Santos City.
While engaging in the community we identified prosects group member which is the
out-of-school youth (OSY). As an agent of change we initiate to formed them as a
group as they have the potentials to be helped. Together with the Barangay Council
for the Protection of Children coordinator, endorse the group to the Alternative
Learning System which they could be able to continue their dream on acquiring an
education and have the certificates of completion. The group has the potential to
attain the said program intended for the out-of-school youth like them, who wanted
to be educated and fulfill their life’s purpose.

VIII. Extension
- In this group work, the objectives and goals set by the group members
through the guidance of the Barangay council during the initial phase of the helping
process have been met on May 23, 2023 @2pm, therefore the program is still
developing. Looking forward for the improvement of the program as well as the
group members.
