1.1 Before starting
Caution!
The unit can be damaged if connected improperly!
Note:
Check all connections before start-up!
All inputs and outputs are 24 V DC
Make sure that there is no connection made with a line carrying mains voltage.
2 Description
PCW Software Specification can be used to operate scales with controller types
MEAF-DUMP (acceptance scales and loading balances)
MEAF-DCOS (silo loading balance) or
MEAF-DMST (weighbridge).
The PCW program is capable of controlling up to 10 scales.
• Monitoring weighing
• Creating statistics (recording job reports).
• The program is designed as a single device which can also operate as a host

3 Installation
3.1 Requirements for the installation location
PC: The PC should be placed in a control room.
Electronic control units: Ambient temperature: -10 to +50 °C
Position the devices so that the electronics are not exposed to direct sunlight. The
following general rule applies to electronic devices: long-term, high ambient tem-
peratures (higher than 30 °C) reduce the service life.
3.4 Connection
3.4.1 General
Data exchange with the LCUs and the I/O module takes place via serial interfaces.
The data exchange is described in detail in operating instructions 66435 and 65814
(description of the RS-485 serial interface).

1 – 10 LCUs are connected to the interface converter. The cable must be routed as
a bus cable and should not be wired in a radial pattern. This means that the cable
is run from the converter to the first local control unit, then continues from the first
to the second, and so on.
The terminating resistor of the last local control unit must be switched on and those
of all the others switched off. Each unit must have a different address.
The LCU must be configured according to the appropriate instruction manual.

5 Operation
5.1 General
As is usual with Windows© programs, the system is operated predominantly with a
PC mouse. The program interface consists mainly of dialogue windows.
In order to carry out value adjustments and function commands, an operator pass-
word is required. When the program is delivered, the operator password is meaf
(not case-sensitive).
5.2 Operation
5.2.1 Main window operation
The main window is the frame window with menus, toolbar, alarm bar and scale se-
lection. Using the scale buttons, which carry specific scale names, the operator can
open the scale overview screen. Several overview screens can be open at the sa-
me time (modeless dialogue window). The remaining windows must be closed be-
fore it is possible to work in another window (modal dialogue window).

This button can be used to access the scale overview window. There is one button
for each scale, carrying the scale name. The background of the button is coloured
to reflect the current status:

Message:
Instead of scale 1, the name of any configured scale may also appear.
Instead of scale open, any of the other alarm messages created by one of the
LCUs may also appear. If the message
transmission fault appears, data communication between MEAF-PCW and one of
the LCUs is faulty or disconnected.
The alarm numbers match with the appropriate alarm indicator on the LCU. For
causes and remedies, refer to the operating instructions of the corresponding sca-

If this happens, you must replace the defective database. You will have to resort to
performing a data backup. (see section 6.1).
