SBS RELOCATION 📺👨🏼👩🏽👧🏽👦🏼 | The Federal Government’s decision to revise plans to relocate the headquarters of the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) to Sydney’s western suburbs has surprised many Western Sydney mayors. “We do welcome the government’s funding of $5.9 million for the production of a funding hub and we hope this will be the start of providing a permanent home for SBS in Western Sydney," said WSROC President, Councillor Brad Bunting. “Establishing the SBS headquarters in Western Sydney just makes sense,” said Councillor Bunting. “The area offers a rich tapestry of communities with unique perspectives and languages that would provide the broadcasting service with an authentic connection to its target audience." Are you missing a huge market for your content? What is the percentage of #english speakers in the Arab world? And why do you have to #localize your content to Arabic? Well, here is #why : The percentage of #good_English speakers in the #Arab_world varies widely between countries and regions. On average, English proficiency in the Arab world is generally #lower compared to European or Southeast Asian countries, but it’s improving, especially in countries with higher exposure to international business, education, and tourism. Here’s an overview of English proficiency in some Arab countries based on various studies and #indexes (such as the EF English Proficiency Index): • #United_Arab_Emirates (UAE): One of the highest levels of English proficiency in the Arab world, especially in cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with up to 70% of the population capable of speaking English well, due to the large #expat community and the use of English in business. • #Lebanon: English is widely spoken, particularly among younger generations and in urban areas. #Estimates suggest around 40-50% of the population speaks English #fluently. • #Egypt: English proficiency is #moderate, with about 30-40% of the population speaking English, especially in major cities like Cairo and Alexandria, where it’s commonly used in #business and #education. • #Saudi_Arabia: English is commonly taught in schools and used in business settings, particularly in larger cities, with around 20-30% of the population being proficient. • #Morocco and #Tunisia: #French is the main second language, but English is growing in importance, especially among younger people. Around 15-25% of the population may have a good command of English. • #Iraq, #Syria, and #Yemen: These countries generally have lower English proficiency, due to fewer resources devoted to English education, with estimates below 10-15%. Overall, the region averages between 10% and 30% of the population being proficient in English, though this depends significantly on education levels, the presence of expatriate communities, and the role of English in business or tourism. #localization #voice_dubbing #statistics #info #audience #market #nis Contact us: [email protected] www.nistudio.de See you soon MIP Markets - MIPCOM, MIPJUNIOR, MIP CANCUN & MIP LONDON

The Congress of Peru has approved the creation of economic & fiscal incentives for audiovisual production in the country - Peru thus seeks to catch up with Latin American neighbors such as Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, & Ecuador, which in recent years have seen national & international audiovisual production grow significantly in their territories thanks to the implementation of fiscal & economic incentives - article: https://lnkd.in/g3D8iW5u

An observation about C21Media Content London, coming up next week. I just looked at the delegate list (around 3000 attendees), and counted 115 delegates from Australia - it's an incredibly popular market for Aussies. From India, with an enormous screen market and audience, the number of delegates listed is...one. (shout out to Roopak Saluja). I know there is a lot of public funding available in Australia for attending markets, and probably little to none in India. Maybe Indian producers and broadcasters/platforms prefer to head to North America rather than London to connect with the anglosphere - or perhaps the local markets in Asia are more useful? Would be interested in your views. https://lnkd.in/eqaHKNKZ

We all know that Australia is a multicultural society. But did you know that 22% of people living in Australia speak a language other than English at home? Since joining The LOTE Agency I have become keenly aware of the way important messages are communicated. And I find myself wondering - would this message be clear for everyone? On my run around Albert Park Lake this morning I saw this sign for the 100th time. And I wondered (for the first time) if some visitors might see this sign and think that it’s not OK to feed the ducks - but it’s OK to feed the black swans. 🤔 The LOTE Agency recently conducted extensive research with CALD Australians across ten language groups. The objective of the research was to better understand the experiences CALD customers are having with their electricity, gas and water providers. We gathered 1,290 responses over an 18-month period. Less than 20% of respondents said that their utilities bill was “very easy to understand”. Are you confident that important messages are being clearly understood by ALL your customers? If you need a little help, reach out. Learn more about the important work we do here: https://lnkd.in/gSdF6uN4
