  • Hawkesbury Regional Museum wins for 11 Stories From the River Dyarubbin at the 2024 IMAGinE awards. On 21st November, museums, galleries, and Aboriginal cultural organisations from across New South Wales gathered at Paddington Town Hall to celebrate the announcement of the 2024 IMAGinE Awards, which recognise excellence in exhibitions, community engagement, and accessibility. Hawkesbury Regional Museum was honoured with the Engagement award for 11 Stories From the River Dyarubbin, a community project featuring 11 audio walks that share the river’s stories. The project, guided by Dharug narrators and supported by original music, aims to enhance care and understanding of the river. The IMAGinE Awards highlight the creativity, resilience, and community impact of cultural organisations, particularly smaller and regional institutions achieving meaningful outcomes with limited resources. Brett Adlington, CEO of Museums & Galleries of NSW, noted, “The IMAGinE Awards celebrate the extraordinary efforts of our cultural sector, strengthening NSW’s cultural landscape and enriching our communities.” Well done to the Arts and Culture Team.

At Hawkesbury City Council , we care about the environment and ecology! 🌱 We planted 600 tube stock plants at the Gorricks Run Project to reinstate the local native vegetation. These plants, sourced from our Council Nursery and planted by a local contractor, will help restore the Riverflat Forest Vegetation. The Gorricks Run Causeway, damaged in the July 2022 floods, has been upgraded with a new culvert system for better fish passage and flood resilience. Thanks to all our stakeholders! 🙌 #Environment #Ecology #Plants #GorricksRun #Community #Sustainability
