About us
Canadian Scholars was founded in 1986 and is one of Canada's leading independent academic publishing companies. We remain one of a small number of firms publishing textbooks, scholarly works, and general interest. Women’s Press, Canada’s oldest English-language feminist publisher, was founded under collective ownership in 1972. It became an imprint of Canadian Scholars in 2000. Our academic publishing program creates books that make a genuine and lasting contribution to the evolution of a wide variety of disciplines. We seek to foreground the work of leading Canadian scholars as well as up-and-coming academics, always paying special attention to editorial detail and quality of presentation. We are committed to maintaining our reputation for excellence in scholarship, research, and education, and we are proud to be celebrating 30 years of publishing.

There is something magical about a book cover 📗, isn't there? This week, as the cover of my next book is finally ready, I feel elated that it's really happening. The new book, "Foundations of Business Analytics", will be published as a textbook, complete with teaching materials and a test bank. This is a culmination of something new I jumped into five years ago - developing a college-level course and then teaching it at Humber College, receiving amazing support from my two program coordinators Nataliya Korchagina and Omar Wahdan, Ph.D. I struggled to find a suitable textbook for my course Introduction to Analytics - not too technical for an introductory course, but not too simplistic that it glossed over the many hurdles and challenges of creating useful analytical insights. While I used many sources for teaching the course (yes, even the Government of Canada website 🇨🇦), I wanted to create a resource that covers broadly: ✅ What is data/data types ✅ Data management in an enterprise ✅ Analytics use cases in the business context ✅ Types of analytics ✅ Business analytics life cycle ✅ Analytics architecture ✅ Types and styles of analytics solutions ✅ The basics of analytics project management ✅ Legal and ethical implications of using analytics and AI ✅ Analytics careers The target audience for this book is both: 🎯 students of business and data analytics just starting on their journey 🎯 businesspeople and leaders who want their organization to get better at using their data for informed decision-making The publication date is May 2025. If you are looking for a new textbook for next year, you can request a preview copy from the link shared in the first comment. #newbook #book #analytics #businessanalytics #dataanalytics #data #ai #businessintelligence #decisionmaking #datainsights
