As a result, grid operators, consumers and software companies can now concentrate on taking advantage of the new business models that are emerging in this market. Such models were not possible in a market dominated by internal combustion engines. In this episode of Energy Enablers, David speaks with Torben Fog, chief innovation officer at Danish EV charging platform provider Spirii. Torben discusses some of these new opportunities including demand response and frequency regulation services. They also touch on the barriers that are delaying the growth of these models, such as a lack of transparency and grid constraints. #DYK, we've already uncovered some exciting results from our vehicle-to-home (V2H) trial? 👀 Earlier this week, at the Cenex Expo 2024, our very own Chief Technical Officer, John Fox, shared the early results of our project — the world's largest V2H trial 🚀 So far, we've: ✅ Shifted over 100MWh of energy from peak to off-peak times — this is enough to power an electric vehicle for approximately 430,000 miles. ✅ Reduced carbon output by a considerable amount by supporting the grid through bidirectional charging, rather than relying on fossil fuel energy. ✅ Saved 41% of trialists an anticipated £400 - £799 — and that's just the beginning! With the increasing demand for electricity and the growth of green energy sources, the Dutch power grid is being stretched. This calls for new solutions to ensure stable power and optimal performance. Fortunately, SmartGrid | Energy Storage reached out to Danfoss to develop smart battery containers. Based on the Danfoss VACON® NXP, smart battery containers can provide essential support to avoid power shortages. In 2022, the annual Lambertus Fair reaped the benefits of this new solution when they held the first major zero-emission fair in the Netherlands. Their previous diesel generators were replaced with three 10-foot containers that ensured uninterrupted power throughout the four-day event.
