Are you wondering how you can evaluate the impact of your actions as a team, organisation or network in a regenerative way? Let us introduce our Impact Garden model: https://lnkd.in/eyCejQRm The core idea of the Impact Garden is to understand and measure the conditions for systemic change, and to consider how to best contribute to it with one’s available resources. For this it draws on the metaphor of living systems and nature. Rather than counting apples, the model seeks to understand the soil and ecosystem in which the apple trees grow, and how additional resources might support their cycle of growing healthy and tasty fruits over a sustained period. Curious? In our latest blog article we dive deeper into the model and provide a downloadable handout for you to give the model a try. Follow this link to read the blog article and access the handout: https://lnkd.in/eMd-s2DW We will also host a free workshop on regenerative measurement and evaluation on 23rd July (4-5pm CEST), to which we invite you to join: https://lnkd.in/dV_v7Rvw. #Regeneration #Impact #Measurement #UnityEffect #Evaluation #Networks #TheoryOfChange

Earlier this year, my curiosity about Unity Effect 's Impact Garden Model led me to conversation and connection with Jannik Kaiser. I've found that the Impact Garden Model offers a more intuitive and grounded way of thinking about evaluation than your typical program logic model's boxes and arrows. With organizations in Hawai'i, I have found the regenerative ecosystem metaphor of the Model to be particularly resonant. I especially appreciate how the Model asks us to think expansively about what (and who) are resources and supporting conditions that feed and sustain the visible changes we seek. Curious to learn more? Check out the blog post or video linked below! (And thank you, Matteah Spencer Reppart, for supporting the introduction between Jannik and myself!)

A new more insect-friendly lighting in Lahti, Finland. A pilot project in Ritamäki nature reserve where, as the citu authorities say, new 12 LED insect-friendly lamps were installed. Unfiortunately, the exact CCT of these new LEDs is not given. I could only add that such insect-friendly lighting is also very human-friendly lighting and greatly reduces light pollution. Light pollution has a very negative impact on humans too. Youtube video of warm LED/white cold LED on the insects from Lahti. https://lnkd.in/dr5sJiCe https://lnkd.in/dSGqiRmk

If you missed our enlightening webinar featuring Tim Buruma, Co-Founder of Tree Coach, we highly recommend viewing the recorded session. This webinar deviates from the conventional format by incorporating an engaging talk show-style presentation rather than relying heavily on slides, making the experience more dynamic. During the session, Tim takes us on a personal journey, sharing the inception of Tree Coach and the challenges they faced in their early tree-planting efforts. Tim's candid discussion about their failures and the decision he and his brother Rob made to start their journey towards a meaningful solution is genuinely inspiring. If you have heard the controversial statement that 'Using Tree Coach means putting plastic in the ground', Tim didn't shy away from addressing that topic and offering thoughtful clarification. We discussed the confronting stats on tree planting failures, tree replacement costs, and 'greenwashing'—not for the faint-hearted! We invite you to access the recording and enrich your understanding of Tree Coach's mission and innovations: https://lnkd.in/gM8enG2b Natural Growth Partners #stratagreen #stratagreenau #growwithus #webinar #ngp #naturalgrowthpartners #treecoach #arborist #arboriculture #urbantree #urbantrees #landscape #landscapedesign #arboristlife #treegrowth #architect #landscapearchitecture #landscapearchitect #landscaper #horticulturalist #recycling #circulareconomy #sustainability

I'm excited to share that I've completed the Permaculture Design course at Ecoversity and received my certification 🌳 Permaculture, as I've come to understand through this journey, is far from being just a way of designing sustainable agriculture systems; it's a philosophy deeply rooted in mimicking the intricate workings of nature. It's the principles that we chose to guide us as we design our project Nomad Farm. Throughout this course, if there's one profound lesson that stuck with me is the pivotal role of community within permaculture projects. While energy, plants, animals, and water follow certain patterns, humans introduce a layer of complexity that demands delicate consideration. With their feelings, needs, desires, and traumas, humans become the linchpin of success or failure within any ecosystem. So, as I embark on designing Nomad Farm, I've come to realize that fostering a thriving community is just as essential—if not more so—than perfecting water catchment systems or nurturing food forests. Community dynamics, governance structures, shared rituals, defined roles, and upheld values form the bedrock upon which sustainable ecosystems thrive. Reflecting on this, I recently sought advice from a wise man named Lars on what truly fosters a flourishing community. His response was elegantly simple yet profound: "A successful community hinges on the health of your soil. Just as nourished soil yields bountiful harvests, happy soil fosters happy people. It's all interconnected." To the team at Ecoversity, particularly Stephen Brooks and Penny Livingston, I extend my deepest gratitude for curating such an enriching curriculum and learning environment. Your wisdom has empowered me with invaluable knowledge that I'll carry forward as I continue to cultivate sustainable communities & ecosystems. #permaculture #community #sustainable #ecosystems
