A new more insect-friendly lighting in Lahti, Finland. A pilot project in Ritamäki nature reserve where, as the citu authorities say, new 12 LED insect-friendly lamps were installed. Unfiortunately, the exact CCT of these new LEDs is not given. I could only add that such insect-friendly lighting is also very human-friendly lighting and greatly reduces light pollution. Light pollution has a very negative impact on humans too. Youtube video of warm LED/white cold LED on the insects from Lahti. https://lnkd.in/dr5sJiCe https://lnkd.in/dSGqiRmk

Please be cautious with the term "insect friendly". Just no artificial light is insect friendly. Other than that, there is light, which is less attractive. Nevertheless - it's always great to get to know projects where 'life-centric lighting' is considered, to use the term coined by Amardeep M. Dugar. Beyond, and what is asked from citizens to turn off lights on 7 September for the 'Night of Pollinators', it would be great if the city would follow this example on every night to further foster the needs of pollinators and other species.

Wonderful ! This 500 meters foot path has 12 streetlights, this is one every 42 meters ! In Îles du Saulcy at cité universitaire de Metz a new lighting system has been installed on a path near the river where they had previously just the glow of the moon 🌙 and the city. Unfortunately, the town has too much of the tax-payer money to spend and has installed a lamppost every 12 meters. Which seems to much.
