Did you know? 🤔 Through QAMA, a subset of the Uganda Fish Processors & Exporters Association (UFPEA), we prioritize the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system. This proactive approach allows us to assess potential hazards and establish control measures focused on prevention, rather than relying solely on end-product testing. By identifying specific hazards and implementing measures early in the process, QAMA ensures the safety and quality of Uganda’s fish exports from start to finish. 🐟🌍 Our dedication to #HACCP reinforces food safety standards, ensuring Uganda continues to excel as a trusted, compliant, and sustainable exporter of fish and fishery products. This is implemented alongside our various private standards. #FoodSafety #QAMA #UFPEA #HACCP #UgandaFisheries #ExportQuality #Sustainability

🌍 Enhancing Food Safety in Ethiopian Honey/Beeswax Exports! 🍯🛡️ We're on an exciting journey to boost the food safety standards of selected key honey and beeswax processors/exporters in Ethiopia. 🔍 Our Approach: We conducted a thorough gap assessment of the processors' systems against FSSC 22000 V6, uncovering areas for improvement and developing action plans. Tailored training sessions followed, featuring interactive exercises to help participants understand and apply the standards effectively. The enthusiasm and commitment from participants have been remarkable, as they recognize the benefits of these improvements for their organizations. FSSC 22000 is a globally recognized standard that ensures robust food safety management systems. We're proud of the progress made and confident that these efforts will significantly enhance the safety and quality of Ethiopian honey and beeswax exports, building greater trust among international buyers. We dived on the journey to create access to safe and affordable foods in Nigeria. Consumer trust in brands is built on consistent avoidance of food adulteration which is a measure of quality management systems from farm, with the inclusion of post-harvest management to table. It is a combined effort of food safety regulations, traceability solutions and laboratory verification and responsible communication. The 9th agrofood & plastprintpack Nigeria 2024 organized by fairtrade Messe panel session on Food Safety, Traceability and Customer Dialogue, courtesy of Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria (AHK Nigeria) provided insight to best global practices, innovative solutions to build trustworthy and safe food brands on issues related to: 1. Current and future state of Nigeria food safety rules and regulations. 2. Providers of verification equipment. 3. Packaging that serves protective and informative. 4. Liability and compliance management. 5. Difference for domestic and export markets. 6. State of the Nigerian economy as it affects the consumer based on income. Sincerely appreciate the organizers and all institutional sponsors and partners. Special thanks to Christoph Julien Müller and Lisa B. for the provision of the video footage of the conference. Special thanks to Sebastian Glaeser for the opportunity provided. cc Dr. Tunji Alausa Prof. Muhammed Ali-Pate - Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare. 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘆 - 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 🌱 Food incidents are often caused by insufficient control over stored food, which can lead to contamination risks. Cimbria has supplied silo storage facilities around the world with advanced temperature and moisture control technologies. This not only maximizes food safety during storage but also reduces food loss. This year's theme for WHO - World Health Organization's World Food Safety Day is food incidents - situations where there is a potential or confirmed health risk associated with food consumption - and with one in ten people worldwide falling ill from contaminated food each year, the challenge is significant. In Africa, we collaborate closely with national food reserve agencies such as the National Cereals & Produce Board in Kenya. Our support includes robust technical backup services and storage solutions. Additionally, we engage in education and training across the region, ensuring food safety to support the value chain from field to store. In #Africa, adopting #foodsafety standards is crucial for meeting regional and international #market requirements while reducing costs associated with food loss and waste. IFC - International Finance Corporation, through its Food Safety Advisory program, helps businesses improve their processes and enhance their global competitiveness. From May 13 to 17, IFC hosted a workshop on food safety awareness and food loss prevention in Dakar, bringing together key agrifood companies and industry experts. Together, we explored the critical importance of food safety for public health, economic growth, and sustainable development in Senegal's agribusiness sector. Participants delved into the "IFC Food Safety Handbook," gaining practical insights to establish robust food safety systems. "IFC’s personalized support includes food safety assessments, food loss estimates, staff training, and guidance on obtaining international certification, " said Nouma Dione, Senior Country Head for Senegal and the Gambia at IFC, during the opening of the training. "Enhancing food safety has helped our clients meet regional and export market demands, attract over $611 million in investments, generate over $728 million in increased sales, achieve more than $3 million in cost savings, and strengthen their brands." IFC remains committed to supporting Senegal's sustainable development through strategic investments, technical assistance, and capacity-building initiatives, particularly in agribusiness. Sincere thanks to all participants, speakers, and partners for their dedication to advancing food safety in Senegal. #FoodSafety #IFC #SustainableDevelopment #Senegal #Agribusiness #Collaboration #Innovation Sandra PAPEAU NDOYE, Objectif Qualité, Natia Mgeladze, Sanata BERTHE, IFC Africa, Anup Jagwani, Sarah Cruikshank Ockman, JEAN HABAY, Sandra PAPEAU NDOYE, Nouma Dione, Jacque K., Ghislaine Muyangata https://lnkd.in/eafVtFhA
