We are proud to announce another key milestone — a newly developed, standardized traceability system for Ethiopian honey products! 🌍🍯 While many Ethiopian honey exporters to the EU had their own traceability methods, the lack of a unified approach led to gaps in transparency and quality control. To solve this, #UNIDO worked closely with industry stakeholders, including Ethiopian Apiculture Development Association (EADA), the Ethiopian Agriculture Authority (EAA), honey exporters/ processors and the Ministry of Agriculture, to create a system that tracks every critical step — from beekeeper registration to final sales. Why is this important? By ensuring every stage of production is fully traceable, we’re not only boosting the quality and safety of Ethiopian honey but also enhancing its global competitiveness. This system will open more doors to international markets, improve transparency, and elevate Ethiopia’s standing in the honey trade. For now, the system will use detailed paper-based forms (available on the EADA website), with plans for future digitization. This is a major leap toward ensuring Ethiopian honey meets international standards and stands out in global markets. 🌍 Supported by the Global Market Access Programme (GMAP), funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development. #UNIDO #HoneyValueChain #Ethiopia #MarketAccess #Traceability #QualityCompliance #Sustainability #GlobalMarkets #Apiculture https://lnkd.in/dxxBQa2J
