Did you catch us on NPR this morning?!
I can’t say it enough… weather intelligence is one of the most powerful levers we have to help communities adapt and thrive in a changing climate. And thanks to Ari Daniel and the #NPR#AllThingsConsidered team, we’re able to amplify this message globally and accelerate our impact like never before! 🌍🎙️
Weather can drive you into poverty. But weather intelligence can lift you out.
This was the core hypothesis behind TomorrowNow.org’s founding: combining local weather data with tailored advisory services and delivering them directly to communities most impacted by climate change to help farmers not just survive but THRIVE.
✨ Hear it for yourself from Farmer Stephen:
“Before receiving agroweather advisories, I used to farm blindly.”
“These advisories help me plan better, knowing when to plant and when to harvest.”
“I have just received an alert that it’s going to rain tomorrow. Since joining this agroweather advisory programme, I can farm confidently and generate more income to secure my children’s future through education”
When I first met Ari, we had just reached our 1 million farmer milestone. One year later, we’ve nearly hit 5 million, with ambitious goals to support 15 million farmers in the next two years and 100 million by 2030.
Congratulations to our public and private sector partners Tomorrow.ioKALRO FARMING and the entire TomorrowNow.org team, for reaching this critical milestone. Innovative partnerships like these drive real change, helping farmers like Stephen build better livelihoods—enabling his daughters to attend school and his family to have nutritious meals. Smallholder farmers like Stephen are essential to global food production and resilience.
We’ve come far, but there’s more to do. 🚀 With the support of our partners incuding Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, we’re building momentum, delivering better services, reducing costs and scaling faster than ever. Together, we are stronger. 💪

"🌾 What Kenyan Farmers Want Us to Know 🌾
Kenyan farmers are at the forefront of agricultural innovation and resilience, but they need our partnership, not just aid. While CGIAR has funding to support farmers, they emphasize a crucial point: work with us, not just for us.
Kenya has over 300 varieties of corn, yet communities are only using a small fraction of them. Desertification is one of the biggest challenges farmers are facing, along with climate change. When drought hits, nothing grows—and new crop varieties are often vulnerable to changing weather patterns.
Farmers know their land best, and they want to be part of the solution. They’re asking for collaboration, not top-down decisions. They want to share what works best for their communities.
Together, we can help farmers develop more resilient practices and ensure their voices are heard.
Let’s work together on the ground, side by side, for a sustainable future. 🌍💚

https://lnkd.in/dhRcfzz9 - climatic change will disrupt food & water supply -> social unrest & political instability due to recourse shortage -> further war & rise of nationalism & socialistic movements and terror = geofragmentation -> decreasing population & less growth
Desertification and drought have severe socio-economic and environmental consequences. They affect livelihoods, food security, water resources, biodiversity, and contribute to poverty, migration, and conflicts, particularly in vulnerable regions.

The vast majority of food in #Africa is produced by smallholder farmers. #TeamBayer believes it’s important to listen and learn about the big challenges they face like #ClimateChange, drought and pests.

🌾 "Family farming feeds the world, but receives only a fraction of the value it generates." As highlighted at the recent G20 Agriculture Ministerial Meeting, Alvaro Lario, President of IFAD, underscored the critical role of G20 support in empowering rural economies and smallholder farmers. Family farms produce 80% of the world’s food, yet climate change, urbanization, and income inequality threaten their stability. G20 leaders have a unique opportunity to boost global food security by investing in sustainable agriculture and supporting rural communities—actions that would ensure resilience to climate and economic shocks.
Investments targeted at smallholders and family farms are not just essential for food security, but they are also crucial for broader global stability. By funneling more financial resources to rural communities, particularly those adapting to climate change, the G20 can directly address the structural challenges of food systems. Supporting rural producers with fair compensation and market access, as IFAD proposes, is a necessary step toward building a more inclusive and resilient global food system. 🌱💡

“G20 support is crucial for targeted investments and effective public policies that foster prosperous rural economies and strengthen family farming and food systems,” stated IFAD President Alvaro Lario at the recent #G20 Agriculture Ministerial Meeting, in #Brazil.
📈 By supporting global initiatives like the UN Decade of Family Farming and the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty, G20 leaders can make a measurable difference in addressing global food security challenges.

Inspired by my colleague's dedication to #ClimateAction! She'll be at #ClimateWeek2024 in NY, representing crucial work in climate equity. The Harvest Fund's solar-powered irrigation systems in drought-stricken Zambia show how innovation can build #ClimateResilience.
Let's support these vital initiatives and discuss ways to create a sustainable future. Reach out if you're interested in climate adaptation strategies!
