What a pleasure it was to present at this webinar! So often it can feel like you are siloed during a PhD - siloed into research and siloed into a particular field. Never be afraid to take a chance, a risk, a step outside of your comfort zone or to take the road less travelled, sometimes our lateral moves are our best. Always understand the value you can bring and never take rejection personally. Understand your capacity gaps and work out how best to fill and frame them. Be strategic, be tactful, be an advocate for your skills and, most importantly, be proud of your journey. A career is lifelong and it is yours to shape. Dream big, aim high and shoot for the stars, you might surprise yourself where you land.
Today we held our first HDR and ECR virtual webinar of 2024 and heard from the amazing Dr Tara Speranza and Dr Bridie Mulholland! They generously shared with us their career journeys in both industry and academia, providing practical advice for early careers, and tips for future job applications. This truly was an inspiring discussion. One of our favourite take-home messages: “Keep your mind open at all times. Keep it broad. Diversify your options.” We can’t thank Tara and Bridie enough for sharing their time with us!

How does a learner learn how the world of work is organized? How do they learn which industries are aligned to their interests and the ways they want to contribute to their community? Many states align Career Technical Education (CTE) programs to the National Career Clusters Framework, providing a strong foundation for all learners to explore and prepare for the world of work. This fall, we updated the Framework. Take a moment to see what it’s all about! https://lnkd.in/e5axUyZr
