How do you feel about supporting your early career starters? I'm talking about graduates, apprentices and those just starting their career. We currently have one of the worst ever rates of retention of new talent across all sectors. So we are obviously not supporting our early career starters correctly. I love that at Inclusive Futures CIC, our coaching clients range from CEO's and Directors, to 16 year olds still deciding what they want for their future and everything in-between. So we get to hear about the challenges from a number of different perspectives. Our latest blog dives into how creating space for self expression and creativity, adapting communication styles, sharing the "why" behind decisions, plus other useful tips - will build confidence and allow employees' skills to shine. Have a read and let me know what you think! Link in the comments...

What a pleasure it was to present at this webinar! So often it can feel like you are siloed during a PhD - siloed into research and siloed into a particular field. Never be afraid to take a chance, a risk, a step outside of your comfort zone or to take the road less travelled, sometimes our lateral moves are our best. Always understand the value you can bring and never take rejection personally. Understand your capacity gaps and work out how best to fill and frame them. Be strategic, be tactful, be an advocate for your skills and, most importantly, be proud of your journey. A career is lifelong and it is yours to shape. Dream big, aim high and shoot for the stars, you might surprise yourself where you land.
Today we held our first HDR and ECR virtual webinar of 2024 and heard from the amazing Dr Tara Speranza and Dr Bridie Mulholland! They generously shared with us their career journeys in both industry and academia, providing practical advice for early careers, and tips for future job applications. This truly was an inspiring discussion. One of our favourite take-home messages: “Keep your mind open at all times. Keep it broad. Diversify your options.” We can’t thank Tara and Bridie enough for sharing their time with us!
