Unlocking Your Creative Potential: This Week’s Highlights 🌟 Happy Sunday! This week, we explored overcoming imposter syndrome, the transformative power of feedback, and celebrated industry achievements. Here’s a recap: 1. Conquering Imposter Syndrome: Tariq’s Journey Tariq, a commissioning editor at a leading Los Angeles streaming platform, faced self-doubt despite his accomplishments. Together, we: • Identified Limiting Beliefs: Recognized and reframed negative self-talk. • Built a Supportive Network: Encouraged connections with peers and mentors. • Embraced Continuous Learning: Adopted a growth mindset. Tariq now leads with confidence, recently earning a promotion. Key Takeaway: With the right support, overcoming imposter syndrome leads to renewed confidence and growth. 2. Embracing Feedback: A Path to Growth Avoiding feedback stems from fear of criticism. To overcome this: • Ask Direct Questions: Seek clarity on strengths and areas for improvement. • Reframe Feedback: View it as a tool for connection and development. This approach transformed my perspective and that of my client, Sarah, a freelance producer who gained confidence and stronger relationships through feedback. Key Takeaway: Feedback isn’t a threat but a pathway to connection and growth. 3. Celebrating Industry Impact: Simone Pennant MBE and The TV Collective At the RTS Craft and Design Awards, Simone Pennant MBE and The TV Collective received the Special Impact Award. Simone’s dedication to diversity and inclusion is reshaping the industry. As the group coach for the Breakthrough Leaders program, I’m proud to support her mission to empower emerging talent. Key Takeaway: Championing diverse voices fosters a more inclusive and innovative television landscape. Let’s continue to embrace growth, seek feedback, and celebrate the achievements that drive our industry forward.

Compassion is the headliner of any transformational journey… …and it always begins with ourselves! Compassion alone isn't enough though - we need accountability too if we want to see real results. When we practice self-compassion, we acknowledge our strengths and areas for growth, which helps us to stay open to the experience, words and actions of those around us. However, it’s through the practice of Compassionate Accountability®, that we can create a culture that values both empathy and responsibility. By staying open to the experience, words and actions of others while we hold ourselves and others accountable, we can nurture a work environment where everyone is encouraged to thrive. This shift in perspective transforms potential conflicts into opportunities for innovation and collaboration, opening the door to a more connected and successful team. Lead with compassion, reinforce it with accountability, and watch your workplace evolve into a space of trust and shared achievement. What would change in your workplace if you led with Compassionate Accountability today? As Wayne Dwyer said…”When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change…” ______________________________________________________ Ring the bell on our Business Page to receive the latest news as we share it ➡️🔔 Visit our website to find out more about Compassionate Accountability® 🌐 Follow us on YouTube and watch our latest podcasts @NextElement1 🎙️

We are often programmed to think more is the answer. More money, more things… In my health journey, it was… a new protocol here, a new doctor here. Confoundingly, I often felt *more* overwhelmed and confused. At times in my career, this “more-ness” might have looked like the idea that more headcount or more funding was the answer. (And as someone who once led a team through 2 acquisitions in 3 years I can assure you… it seems like a nice quick fix at times.) That said, I became a better leader through lean times not large budgets. In my mindfulness practice, I’ve come to value subtraction. I now find myself pausing when I think the answer to a problem is to throw more inertia at it and “figure it out.” Sometimes, the answer is subtraction. What can be removed? Where can I take a beat to gain a different perspective? What can be simplified? (In my home nothing illustrates this more elegantly than decluttering… my mind feels 1000x lighter after.) So, if you find yourself stuck… whether it’s frustrated with a team issue or at the end of 200 applications and no responses… perhaps, pause and wonder how you can subtract or take a different view. If all it does is give your autonomic nervous system a reprieve… then that will be good enough. https://lnkd.in/ghhxRwCq

The fast-paced demands of 2024 have challenged us to stay adaptable, yet it’s also a chance to embrace what truly matters—being human. In today’s world, conscious leadership thrives on habits that foster connection, awareness, mental health, and authenticity. Let’s go beyond the usual and explore practices that nurture both our humanity and our impact: 1️⃣ Digital Detox Breaks: carve out intentional moments to step away from your screens. Disconnecting from constant notifications recharges your focus and helps you reconnect with yourself and the people around you. 2️⃣ Journaling for Reflection: use journaling to capture your thoughts, process emotions and learnings, and uncover patterns. This practice encourages self-awareness, a cornerstone of conscious leadership, while providing clarity in decision-making. 3️⃣ Micro-Learning Moments: dedicate five minutes daily to learning something new—a podcast, article, or course snippet. In a world of rapid change, staying curious fuels innovation and adaptability. 4️⃣ Gratitude in Action: move beyond gratitude lists and express genuine appreciation in real-time. Thank your team, acknowledge a peer, or even celebrate yourself for small wins. Gratitude fosters deeper human connections and strengthens relationships. 5️⃣ Mindful Listening: pause, fully present, and truly hear what others say. Listening without planning your response builds trust, resolves conflicts, and strengthens your ability to connect as a leader. As we close the year, let’s remember that leadership is not about being perfect but about being human, authentic, and present. Which of these habits could help you finish the year strong? I’d love to hear how you’re leading consciously as we head into 2024. #consciousleadership #beinghuman #leadershipdevelopment #personalgrowth #coaching

🌟 Shifting the Narrative 🌟 Let’s talk about the power of shifting our internal dialogue from “I want” to “I am.” Instead of constantly yearning for something, let’s affirm that we already possess it within ourselves. 🌸 “I want to feel good” becomes “I feel good.” Embrace the present moment and recognize the goodness that already exists within you. 🌟 “I want to look good” transforms into “I look good.” Embrace your unique beauty and radiate confidence from within. 😊 “I want to feel happy” shifts to “I will feel happy.” Trust in the journey and know that happiness is not just a destination but a state of being that you’re actively cultivating. 🌿 “I will be okay” evolves into “I AM okay.” Affirm your resilience and strength in the face of challenges, knowing that you are capable of overcoming anything. Remember, our words have power, and by shifting our internal dialogue, we can manifest positive change in our lives. Believe in your inherent worth and embrace the truth of who you are! 💖 #ShiftingPerspective #PositiveAffirmations #innerstrength

Almost all successful independent advisors eventually face a moment of truth. Do you want to maintain a safe, comfortable lifestyle practice where you get to keep serving your client base, set your own hours, and cash a good paycheck? Or, do you want to become the strategic leader your firm needs to achieve meaningful scale and, potentially, 10X the impact you can have on your clients, your employees, and your family? When we talked at the 2024 Barron’s Advisor Independent Summit, Rick Kent, CEO of Merit Financial Advisors, explained how he navigated that crossroads in his own career and used servant leadership to build a cohesive team that’s united by a shared vision for the future. Rick’s story is a great example of how building trusting relationships, enabling teams, and having an exciting vision can propel your organization to great success. Rick flipped the CEO switch: “I moved all my client relationships over to another advisor. All of ’em. Every single one. And after I did that, I looked back and thought, why didn’t I do that sooner? It’s one of those big learning moments, and here’s why. There’s only so much capacity in a day, right? And I’m a firm believer that the mind is very powerful and you become what you think about. So if I’m thinking about clients all the time, I’m going to do a good job of servicing those clients. If I take the equal amount of time that’s in the day and think about growing the business and being the CEO of the business and helping the people in the business and building out the team, a lot gets done. I just didn’t have that time before. And as soon as I flipped that switch, I started watching the company take off .” Listen to my full conversation with Rick on the Barron's Advisor podcast. https://lnkd.in/g3mknXsv

What a delight to speak with Alina Costache on her podcast "Flip the Script." Her intelligent questions about how to build innovative, collaborative teams were spot on. Innovation does not occur via planning – it emerges from the interactions of a synergistic group of people who are emotionally absorbed in their team and its process. We must teach leaders that innovation is less about getting the vision right – and more about building an emotionally intelligent environment that inspires collaboration. Many thanks to colleagues with whom I developed these ideas, especially Steven Wolff - also Dr Geetu Bharwaney FMCIPD, Richard Boyatzis, and Daniel Goleman, and for helping take the ideas m to broader audiences, Dr. Matthew Lippincott, Richard Hua, and Massimiliano Ghini, MBA. #emotionalintelligence #teamei #teamcoaching #emotionsmatter #teamwork #teameffectiveness #leadershipdevelopment #culturematters #innovation #teammanagement
Culture & Change • Leadership and Team Coach • Storyteller and Keynote Speaker 🔹 Helping leaders & their teams navigate the messiness of change, impactfully
When Vanessa Druskat, the award-winning behavioural scientist who pioneered the concept of "𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆" agreed to come on "Flip the Script", I was honoured and overjoyed. Like me, I'm sure many of you have had the experience of being part of teams that run like clockwork; and others that are the mother of dysfunction... Vanessa has dedicated her life's work to exploring the difference between the two, which, importantly, converts to mediocre vs high team performance. Now, as a team coach myself I'll be the first one to say there's a lot of literature on this topic. What Vanessa's research uniquely brings is the realisation that the real source of a team's success is not having a clear mission, sound processes or ample resources (although these are super important). 𝑰𝒕'𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒖𝒂𝒍 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒆𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 -- 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒔𝒐 𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒕. (That last bit stopped me in my tracks). 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒘𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒆'𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒐𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓. How we co-create the conditions so that we feel safe and stimulated to fully engage rather than hold back. How we bring emotions deliberately to the surface and understand their impact on the team's work. And how well we build relationships so we strengthen our ability to face challenges together. Some of the highlights from the podcast: 🔎 How 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎𝒔’ 𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 - 𝒐𝒓 𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒐𝒇 - 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒂 𝒅𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒕 𝒐𝒏 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 🔎 Why the people who play the biggest role in shaping the culture of a team i.e. the 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒕 🔎 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔 𝒃𝒂𝒅 𝒃𝒆𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒂𝒔 𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒐𝒏 𝒂 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎... 🔎...and why, 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒔 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒑, 𝒊𝒕 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒔 𝒄𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒔-𝒔𝒊𝒍𝒐 𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 🔎 The 3 𝒃𝒖𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒕𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒏𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒆 𝒂 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎’𝒔 𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆: how we trust each other; how we improve together, with everyone's input; the extent to which we feel part of the team 🔎 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇-𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒆𝒎 I can't wait for you to listen and let me know what you think (link in comments)!
