Opps!!! #IEA!!! Warning!!! Barrasso & McMorris Rodgers: International Energy Agency (IEA) has #Abandoned its #Energy #Security #Mission -March 21, 2024- WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. - Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), ranking member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, and U.S. Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), chair of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, sent a letter to Dr. Fatih Birol, Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), urging him to return the agency to its core mission of promoting energy security. “[I]n recent years the IEA has been undermining energy security by discouraging sufficient investment in energy supplies... Moreover, its energy modeling no longer provides policymakers with balanced assessments of energy and climate proposals. New England Senators (Markey, Warren, Whitehouse, Sanders) write to ISO New England Inc. urging swifter and more holistic action to enable the regional grid’s transition to clean energy. And they endorse a vision of “regional” that extends to interregional planning with New England’s neighbors to the west and north, citing Acadia Center’s Northeast Grid Planning Forum: “In partnership with state governments, ISO-NE should embrace a much more ambitious paradigm for interregional grid coordination and planning with neighboring balancing authorities on both sides of the border, building on the work of the Interregional Planning Stakeholder Advisory Committee. Doing so would enable the greater region to collectively plan and build for the future, achieve shared climate and clean energy goals, and fully harness the complementary energy resources spread across its footprint.” https://lnkd.in/eadB-kpE

These guidance documents will assist prospective licence holders, and other stakeholders, to understand the requirements and processes for transmission and infrastructure licences, and how the merit criteria is assessed under the Offshore Electricity Infrastructure Act 2021 and the Offshore Electricity Infrastructure Regulations 2022.
