Today Deanna Pierce and I had the opportunity to donate 418 non-perishable food items to The Salvation Army of Grand Haven. All items were collected by our team at NetShape Solutions Group over the month of November! All items will be packaged with turkeys to go to families in our community.

Having assisted Scott and the board with their strategic planning process, I know these resources will be used effectively
We extend a huge thank you to Assistance League of Atlanta, which has recently partnered with 3Keys to donate essential items for our residents. This partnership means that our residents—many of whom arrive with little to nothing more than the clothes they are wearing—will receive welcome kits with new bedding, shower shoes, pots and pans, laundry pods, towels, and much more. Assistance League of Atlanta is also assisting with our activities program by donating supplies that enable us to continue offering meaningful activities for our residents. Partnerships like this are critical in helping us support our residents as they transition from homelessness to stability. #endhomelessness #nonprofitpartnerships

Countdown is on.
The Variety Bash kicks off this year in the middle of Dubbo's Western Plain Zoo at Bash's Billabong and then heads north to Queensland, following the path of the original bash 40 years ago. Along the way, we will stop off at local primary schools, where Variety - the Children's Charity NSW/ACT will donate much-needed resources to help children in need. At each school, we dress up as Darth Vader and his Stormtroopers and hand out lightsabers to the kids. We love putting a smile on their faces. There are only three weeks until we head off to the 2024 Variety Bash. We can't wait to share our adventures with you! I would love to know how a last minute change of funding goal posts from Perth & Kinross Council aligns with The Scottish Government 's #EthicalCommissioning principles which are person led care and support, human rights approach, full involvement of people with lived experience, outcomes focussed practice, high quality care and support, fair working practices, financial transparency, sustainable prices and commercial viability, shared accountability and last, but not least, climate and circular economy. (Iriss 's recent report on Ethical Commissioning in Alcohol and Drug Services is a great resource across all aspects of public health and wellbeing related areas! (https://lnkd.in/egMzSVQf) Social Flock (Perth) is a grassroots organisation very local to me. They are mostly staffed by volunteers and run on a shoe string with majority funding going on projects like Winter Warmer Packs for kids. Last year they lovingly created 700 packs from preloved clothing donations and bought new items where they did not have the donations. This year Perth & Kinross Council changed the goal posts at the same time of opening the fund that was used to finance these packs. #ChallengePovertyWeek was last week. We know 1 in 4 children in #PerthandKinross are in poverty. PKC has signed posted Social Flock to other funders knowing that a) its October in Scotland and the temperatures have already plummeted b) what funder has an application process that would turn it about in super quick time. Again I am seeing a council maintaining a defensible position about funding, while not finding alternative clothing packs for 700 children and totally relying on a small grassroots organisation to pull something out of thin area. Apart from being frustrated and annoyed on behalf of Social Flock I want to highlight that this is exactly why great The Scottish Government policies like #EthicalCommissioning will never be implemented at local level. Yes funding is extremely impacted in all local authorities but it doesn't mean you can't apply #EthicalCommissioning principles! We have to bring *NON* ethical commissioning practices out in the open and ask local authorities, NHS and Health and Social Care Partnerships to do better. In this instance it is at least 700 children across #PerthandKinross who absolutely lose out. The Poverty Alliance Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) PKAVS COSLA Perth & Kinross Anti-Poverty Task Force #Transparency #EthicalCommissioning #PolicyImplementationGap #Scotland #WorkWithCommunities #ShiftThePower #WinterWarmerPacks
Our Winter Warmer applications are now open, providing winter clothing to children in Perth and Kinross - but with a sad caveat. Please watch the accompanying video from founder and trustee, Rachael that explains the impact of the reduced funding from Perth & Kinross Council If you are in a position to donate and help fund our scheme, then please get in touch - you can remain anonymous or be praised to the rafters! For anyone that wants to access the service, they can do so here: https://lnkd.in/evEAUd8e - we had 102 applications in the first hour of the scheme being available, showing that there is a chronic need as families try to balance squeezed budgets. #charity #scotland #circulareconomy

In December 2023, research conducted by Shelter revealed an alarming 14% increase, equivalent to 38,100 individuals, in the number of people experiencing homelessness compared to the previous year. Among them were over 309,000 individuals, including nearly 140,000 children, who lacked stable housing. These figures are deeply concerning, highlighting the urgent need for action. Each of us can make a difference by a. raising awareness and b. contributing via donations. Whether you choose to share this information, donate, or both, your efforts will help provide crucial support to those who, for various reasons, lack the fundamental necessities required to participate fully in our society. Homelessness is a persistent issue that demands our attention and collective action. It's very clear that this problem won't disappear overnight. Therefore, it's vital for each of us to recognise our social responsibility and contribute, no matter how small that effort may seem. How aware are you of diaper need in our Native American communities? According to the Annie E. Casey Foundation, 30% of Native American families across the United States experience significant diaper need. In 2024, approximately 18% of families served by Babies of Homelessness had Native American household members. When you donate to BoH, we can leverage each dollar to purchase diapers at a steep discount, so each dollar goes much further. Please consider Babies of Homelessness for your end of year giving, for a diaper drive, or for donating diapers and formula, today. The need is now. Give today at https://lnkd.in/g-cc7WjA.

We’re also asking our members and partners to join us in supporting these efforts. Homelessness in the West Midlands, including Warwickshire, has been increasing due to rising housing costs and limited access to affordable housing. From 2023-24, there was a 12.3% rise in households assessed as homeless or at risk, with approximately 178,560 households requiring immediate assistance across England, including a significant portion in the West Midlands. For Warwickshire specifically, organizations emphasize proactive intervention, from financial aid and rent deposit schemes to mental health support for those vulnerable to homelessness. However, resource constraints remain a challenge for both statutory and voluntary agencies in effectively managing homelessness (especially rough sleeping) across the county. That's why Kare Plus Kenilworth want to support those who are in need this winter by collecting donations at Kare Plus Kenilworth, 23 Talisman Square, Kenilworth, CV8 1JB. #karepluskenilworth #supportingthehomeless #helpthevulnerable
📢 This winter, Kare Plus Kenilworth is collecting essential donations for local homeless shelters across Warwickshire and the West Midlands. Drop off your contributions from 10 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday, at 23 Talisman Square, Kenilworth, CV8 1JB. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those in need! 🌨️🧣 #Warwickshire #SupportTheHomeless #WarmWinter
