Improving Wellbeing, Empowering Communities
About us
We would like a Perth & Kinross where all communities are inclusive and connected, and local people are helped to reach their potential - through an organisation that is driven by first-class front-line services, an in-touch and up-to-date understanding of the needs of communities, and continuous communication and integration with local services, organisations, and bodies. In order to achieve our vision, PKAVS works across a number of key areas: Unpaid Carers; Mental Health & Wellbeing; Minority Communities; Third Sector development; and Volunteering. Our greatest asset is our people. Through our almost 90 staff and over 150 volunteers, we are able to support the wellbeing of thousands of local people every year and help to ensure communities are strong, have a voice, and create positive impacts. Through our diverse provision of services, we are a key partner to the local statutory sector, and with a turnover of over £2.2 million each year, we are able to leverage significant resources to deliver commissioned services, contributing to achieving the outcomes of the Perth & Kinross Community Plan.

"One only has to observe their faces arrive to see them relax and smile as they settle in to enjoy the daily programme." Here is Rod's experience as regular visitor to the PKAVS Day Centre, which operates five days a week to offer respite, refreshments and so much more to older and disabled adults. We're so pleased Rod is part of our PKAVS community.

For this year's AGM, we asked our colleagues, volunteers and service users this question: what does PKAVS mean to you? Here is an inspiring response from David, Peer Support Worker at The Walled Garden & Wisecraft, who began his journey with PKAVS as a client, a volunteer and then a staff member. We're so happy to have David on the PKAVS team!

Reflecting on the draft Scottish Budget for 2025-2026, we welcome the news of an £5m uplift for the Short Breaks Fund for unpaid carers. Short breaks are a necessity for people in caring roles to maintain their wellbeing, and we are happy to facilitate these opportunities for carers in Perth and Kinross. https://lnkd.in/egmT9Hhx
