“If you want people to behave differently, the environment needs to change.” – Laslo Bock (former Head of People Operations, Google) Out of the many change management models that I’ve seen, I have found the Six Sources of Influence to be one of the best change management frameworks available. Many more people could benefit from learning this model because Crucial Learning has not marketed it as a change management framework! I'll introduce this model using a story about my blender, read the link to learn more. #changemanagement #leadership

Have you ever found yourself silently panicking 10 minutes before guests arrive, trying to make everything perfect? 🙋♂️ This situation reminds me of time management. It's not about how many tasks you have or even how well you multitask; it's about making deliberate decisions. 🕰️ Like hosting a dinner party, we can prioritize, delegate, and plan our work. When we don't, we end up overwhelmed and scrambling. Check out my colleague Susan Ali's brilliant blog in which she shares relatable experiences (and a few funny moments!) that show how small steps can make all the difference. Take control of your time — whether it's for your next project or your next dinner party. 🍽️ https://lnkd.in/ea8Fjtj6 #TimeManagement #Productivity #Planning #Leadership #Training #EffectiveDecisions #continuousimprovement #lean #leanhe #eisenhowermatrix

My family love waffles! "Hey this is LinkedIn... who cares what you like to eat." This is about waffles as a metaphor for work/life. If that seems a stretch; consider what many of us think or say... "I'm super busy... and I need to be more productive!" How is it possible to hold onto both ends of this at the same time? Consider the humble waffle. When we gather as a family to enjoy waffles, our waffle iron is arguably super busy and fully productive. A cup of batter is added and 4 minutes later one delicious, perfectly cooked waffle is ready to eat. But the rest of us are waiting our turn. Can we not just squeeze more from this overworked device? Well... we can add more batter hoping for a bigger waffle to share, but the extra batter just oozes out onto the counter as an unappetizing blob. We can shorten the cooking time to say 3 minutes, but then it's undercooked and mushy (aka poor quality product). So what do we do? We talk, sip coffee, play with grand-kids, munch fruit, and enjoy each other's company and the experience. (aka make the most of what's available) Are you finding stuff is oozing out the side of your work creating a gooey mess on the counter? Is the quality of your work a bit undercooked and mushy? How much more are you trying to squeeze from that overworked device called YOU? If you're hungry to produce perfectly cooked, delicious, ready to eat results... but aren't sure how, drop me a line. #leader #leadership #burnout #coach https://lnkd.in/eUhs2n2

Culture eats strategy for breakfast, right? But... breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so it's crucial to make time before your culture starves :) All joking aside, this concept aligns two things I enjoy Parkinson’s Law and Good to Great by targeting ‘activity’ as a poor aspiration. Sometimes it is important to get distance from the 'urgent' to make space. If Strategy Is So Important, Why Don’t We Make Time for It? (hbr.org)

Today’s Manager Workshop Reflections! Today was a fantastic day hosting a workshop for our amazing managers. It was a day full of new learnings, sharing, and planning. A key moment for me was our sticky note feedback session. Our managers wrote down their thoughts on sticky notes, providing us with valuable feedback straight from their experiences. We all worked together to look for common themes and ideas in these notes. This wasn’t just about gathering thoughts; it was a deliberate step to make sure our plans match what our managers need and think. These common themes are not just areas we can get better in but also chances to bring in new ideas and growth. Each theme guides us to create better and more effective training and communication for our managers. By organizing managerial feedback into clear themes for action, we’re doing more than just hearing; we’re growing and learning together. We’re working towards a future where our training always matches our managers’ needs, helping us all grow and improve like never before. Love working with our managers and listening to their experiences, thoughts, ideas and challenges they come across in our restaurants. Grateful to be apart of such an amazing team and brand. #OceanBasket #learninganddevelopment #stickynotes #reasturantindustry

#CultureEatsStrategyOnBreakfast Peter Drucker, a big name in management, once said, "Culture eats strategy for breakfast." What he meant was that the way people work together (culture) is more crucial than just having good plans (strategy). For example, think of a company with a brilliant strategy written on paper, but everyone ignores it because they don't work well together. On the other hand, a company with a strong culture of teamwork and trust can adapt and succeed even if their plans aren't perfect. Drucker's point is simple: a great strategy is useless if the people and the way they work together don't support it. That's why focusing on building a positive and effective culture is essential for any organization's success… #Strategy #Corporate #Culture #Success #PeterDrucker #Leaders #Management

🌟 Embracing change over a cup of coffee: The Lean Way 🌟 As the sun peeks over the horizon, you stand at your kitchen counter, coffee in hand, ready to face the day. The rich, dark liquid is more than just a beverage - it’s a symbol of transformation, much like the principles of Lean Change Management. “Do not look where you fell, but where you slipped,” they say. In the world of change, it’s easy to focus on the outcome - the stain on your shirt from the coffee that jumped out of the cup. But the true lesson lies in the root cause - why did it spill? Was the cup too full? Did you underestimate the power of that first, caffeinated jolt? Lean Change Management is related to making the perfect coffee. It’s an art and a science. You measure your coffee grounds carefully, mindful of the quality and quantity - just as you would balance resources and constraints in a project. You monitor the temperature and pressure, ensuring they’re just right, mirroring the way you’d keep a close eye on the progress and morale of your team. And when that coffee shot is pulled to perfection, it’s a thing of beauty. But if it’s not? You don’t toss the coffee machine out the window. You adjust the grind, you tweak the variables, and you try again. That’s Lean Change Management - continuous improvement, one shot at a time. So, coffee cups up to the process, to the learning, and the journey. Because in the end, it’s not just about the coffee - it’s about the way we embrace change, one sip at a time. And remember, when change gets tough, just like a strong coffee, it’s the bold flavours that leave the most lasting impression. ☕🚀 #TomCoffee #caffeinatedwriting #creativewriting #coffee #changemanagement #LeanChangeManagement #Change #EspressoYourself #Leadership #ContinuousImprovement #kaizen #rootcause USG Professionals Belgium RGF Staffing Belgium Prosci Europe Prosci IdeaLeap

I’ve recently rediscovered my weakness for egg salad sandwiches. 🥪 This weekend, we celebrated my daughter’s third birthday 🥳, and true to my Italian and French roots, I made WAY too much food—and still worried it wasn’t enough! Naturally, we ended up with lots of leftovers, and I can now confidently say that all the egg salad sandwiches have been devoured… by me. 😋 I feel a little guilty because I didn’t exactly give anyone else a chance. In our house, you’ve got to be quick! 🤷♀️ Plus, I couldn't stop eating them so I didn't feel so great afterwards. Having too many egg salad sandwiches (or chips, cookies, or anything delicious but not so good for you, for that matter) in the house is dangerous. It’s all too easy to eat what’s in front of me, even when it doesn’t align with my health goals. So, why am I telling you this? Because to set myself up for success, I (usually) make sure my environment supports my healthy habits. That means keeping temptation foods out of easy reach. As James Clear says in his book: Atomic Habits, it’s not about relying on willpower—it’s about creating an environment that helps you succeed. What does this have to do with leadership? Successful leadership starts with knowing who you are and creating an environment that sets both you and your team up for success. In leadership, just like in life tempted by egg salad sandwiches, you need to know yourself—and create an environment that sets both you and your team up for success. It’s about keeping your vision and goals front and center and designing your environment to achieve them. 🚀 That might mean scheduling time for the tasks you dread, prioritizing your team’s needs, and focusing on the actions that will move you forward.📈 Who knew egg salad sandwiches could be a metaphor for leadership success? 😂 Join us next week for our 5-day complimentary Empowered Leadership Workshop (noon ET each day for 1 hour). You will learn so much about yourself and your leadership style, and how to turn that into your team’s success (egg salad sandwiches optional). 🚫 Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is say "No" 🚫 In the bustling world of the restaurant industry, opportunities and distractions are always at our door. But let me share a piece of wisdom that's served me well: Saying "no" isn't a sign of weakness; it's a sign of STRENGTH. It's a declaration that you understand your goals and values, and you're committed to achieving them. Choosing what to reject is as vital as deciding what to pursue. Remember, every "yes" means a commitment of your precious time and resources. Make sure it aligns with your vision! Are you saying "yes" to things that truly matter to your restaurant's success? Or are you scattering your focus and diluting your efforts? If you need guidance to make the right decisions, I'm here to help!
