Not-so-Cold Plunge Musings: #27 “‘Thanksgiving?’ If you only knew…” What does Thanksgiving have to do with you? It all depends upon your perspective. This week, we’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving in the US – 403 years after a remnant of pilgrims who survived sickness, starvation, and their first brutal winter in North America celebrated with their friends, the Native Wampanoag, in the fall of 1621. Whether they called it “Thanksgiving” or not, they certainly had much to be thankful for: Not for their brutal trials and tribulations but for surviving them. The trials and tribulations I’ve endured are nothing compared to what these survivors had to overcome. Still, this is what I’ve learned… I don’t have to be thankful FOR the difficulties or wait until they pass to be grateful. Instead, I can find gratitude and thankfulness in the midst of them. It’s been so transformative in my life that I’ll repeat it… We don’t have to be thankful FOR our difficulties or wait until they pass to be grateful. Instead, we can find gratitude & thankfulness in the midst of them. While we might not choose our circumstances, we always get to decide how we’ll respond to them. It’s a matter of perspective—and THAT is a daily choice within our control. Agree? Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving EVERY DAY. #gratitude #thanksgiving #anythingbuttypical #coldplunge #mindset BGW CPA, PLLC
This is such a terrific message Gary Frey! And yes, what the pilgrims survived, is absolutely astonishing! We really do have it good.
Life is full of crap. But, it is also full of wonderful things. We get to decide which we spend our time and energy focusing on.
It's all about your mindset! Gratitude can still grow, even when things are tough 🤗
Our struggles don’t define us, but how we respond to them can. Gratitude in the midst of it all changes everything.
Gratitude isn’t about ignoring difficulties but embracing the strength they reveal in us. Your perspective is a timely reminder of how we can choose thankfulness every day.
What a powerful perspective, Gary Frey, gratitude in the midst of challenges truly shifts how we experience life.
Happy Thanksgiving Gary! Our brain hears and believes what we tell or feed it. Your exercise in gratitude is a self directed rewriting and reworking of our neural pathways. Love this! What choice are we all making today?
Super well spoken and conveyed, my friend. Gary, you have become a moment of healthy reflection in a busy crazy world that is imposed on us and that we impose on ourselves. Keep it up!
