For many, this is a season to pause, celebrate, and give thanks. For others—especially those navigating the challenges of unemployment or the job search—it’s a time that may feel heavy. If you’re in that position, know that your courage and persistence are worthy of recognition, too. No matter where we are on our journey, this season reminds us to cherish the blessings we do have and to look forward with hope. ✨ **Family and loved ones are everything**: They’re our foundation through every twist and turn, and spending time together is a gift in itself. ✨ **Good health is wealth**: Let’s take a moment to be thankful for the well-being that allows us to show up for ourselves and others. ✨ **Safe travels to all**: Whether you’re traveling near or far, may your journey be smooth, and your destination filled with warmth and joy. ✨ **Every journey is unique**: For those facing challenges, know that brighter days are ahead. Lean on your support network and trust in the process. As we gather around the table this Thanksgiving, let’s honor the strength in ourselves and others, spread kindness where it’s needed, and carry gratitude into the new year. Finding Connection When Apart This Thanksgiving Through Gratitude 🍂 Thanksgiving can be a complex time for many of us. While we often look forward to spending time with family and friends in person, the reality is that it is not always possible due to financial hardships, work constraints, loss of loved ones, and even physical, spiritual, and mental weariness. As I reflect on my journey this year thus far, here are a few things I have been thinking about: 🙏 Acknowledge and give thanks for everything I have rather than focus on what I don't have. While it's not always easy to focus on the positive things, I have learned to appreciate the small victories, such as a safe place to live, a job, food, and a group of people I can call to share joy and laughter. 💖 Checking in with folks I haven't connected with in a while–even if it's one person. During that phone call or text, ask that person for an update on their life and share a bit about what's happening in your life. If someone has been on your mind for a while, that's the person you should call or text. Sometimes, this may even be accepting someone’s call and genuinely listening to that person. 🌿 It's okay to miss out. While being in the presence of family, friends, and others is important, so is self-care. Sometimes, we overextend ourselves even when we are exhausted. While it's great to make an effort to be with others, sometimes we need to rest. Perhaps you can make it home for Christmas, New Year’s, or another upcoming holiday break. I look forward to your thoughts about #socialconnection and #gratitude during #Thanksgiving2024 and the upcoming holidays.

Thanksgiving: A Moment for Connection and Hope We live in a world that often feels heavy. Challenges seem to be everywhere. Some we see, many we don’t. Everyone carries a story, a struggle, a quiet battle. Yet, in the middle of all this, Thanksgiving arrives like a deep breath, a pause that invites us to reflect on something simple but profound: the gifts that connect us all. This holiday isn’t about pretending everything’s perfect. It’s about recognizing what we do have, what we share, even in difficult times: Connection. We all need it. Whether it’s a warm smile, a hug, or just knowing someone’s there, connection reminds us we’re not alone. It’s those moments of understanding that make life richer, even when the road is tough. Hope. Hope is powerful. It whispers that tomorrow can be better, that change is possible, and that the struggles we face today won’t last forever. Sometimes, hope feels distant but it’s always worth holding onto. Strength. There’s a quiet resilience in each of us. We find it in small victories, in showing up, in moving forward even when it’s hard. Thanksgiving reminds us of this strength, not just our own, but the collective strength of community and shared humanity. This year, let’s take a moment to be thankful, not just for the good in our lives, but for the invisible threads that bind us together. For the human spirit that endures, connects, and hopes. So, wherever you are and whatever you’re facing, know this: You’re not alone. We’re in this together, and there’s so much to be grateful for even in challenging times. Happy Thanksgiving. Let’s hold on to connection, hope, and strength, not just today, but every day.

It's cold and wet outside, it's the perfect time to slow down and reflect on what truly matters. While the holidays are filled with joy, they can also bring stress, busyness, and a long list of to-dos. But what if we carved out space to focus on self-awareness and created traditions that nurture us, too? Here are a few simple yet powerful practices to try this season: ✨ Journaling: Take 10 minutes to write about your year—what you’ve learned, what you’re proud of, and what you’re ready to let go of. ✨ Gratitude Practice: End your day by listing three things you’re thankful for. It’s amazing how this small act can shift your perspective. ✨ New Traditions: Start something meaningful—a family walk, quiet time for reflection, or a personal moment to check in with yourself amidst the festivities. The holidays don’t have to be just about giving to others—they can also be about giving back to yourself. When we’re more present with ourselves, we’re better able to connect with those around us. 💡 Here’s a question to reflect on: What’s one thing you can do this month to deepen your self-awareness and truly feel the joy of the season? Drop your thoughts below—I’d love to hear how you’re creating intentional moments this December! 🎁✨ #SelfAwareness #ChristmasTraditions #Gratitude #MentalWellbeing

Holidays Feel Heavy? It’s Time to Create Traditions That Heal The day before Thanksgiving can feel overwhelming, especially for daddyless daughters. As others prepare to gather with family, you might be reminded of the relationships that left you feeling unseen or unworthy. But you don’t have to let those emotions define your holiday experience. Instead of focusing on what’s missing, use today to prepare a tradition that’s just for you. Whether it’s making a favorite dish, setting time aside for reflection, or creating a gratitude ritual, let this Thanksgiving be about celebrating the strength you’ve built and the person you’re becoming. Holidays don’t have to be perfect, but they can be meaningful. Start by giving yourself the love and peace you deserve. ✍🏾 Tool: Tonight, create a simple gratitude practice. Write down three things you’re proud of this year—big or small—and reflect on how far you’ve come. Let that set the tone for your holiday. #DaddylessDaughters #ThanksgivingTraditions #HealingJourney

A Gratitude Invitation for this Holiday Season: In spite of the madness that is decorating for the Holidays the minute sun sets on October 31st, I'm a believer that today marks the beginning of the Holiday season -- and often the accompanying busyness and stress. So instead of worrying about who-will-say-what at the Thanksgiving table, here's a list of challenges for these next few weeks -- choose one or two as you feel called. 1). I will make a gift instead of buying one. 2). I will write a meaningful note to someone who made my holidays special as a child. 3). I will take time to notice something small and hidden. I will treasure it in my heart. 4). I will listen instead of speak in conversation -- pick a day and try -- maybe for five minutes, maybe for ten. This will not just be an exercise in self-control, but in allowing someone else to feel heard. 5). I will volunteer. 6). I will attend one activity that is communal and free. Was talking to a friend about Alleluia chorus sing-alongs, which are in many local churches this time of year. 7). I will let something go. 8). I will send an anonymous gift to someone who would appreciate it. 9). I will reach out to someone who has lost someone this year. 10). I will create a space of hospitality and joy for others. Adults like to craft (raises hand) as well! 11). I will honor the need for silence in my life. 12). I will buy one inexpensive item that calls to mind something I loved as a child. 13). I will list my gratitudes in the morning or evening. 14). I will not seek perfection. I will accept people and life and the holidays as they are, imperfect, real, and the only ones we are getting this year. 15). I will take a picture of something that speaks to me of beauty in the world and share it with others. Here is mine. A perfect mushroom! Happy Thanksgiving and may your life and light be a gift to others.

Every year, I cherish the time reflecting on why 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 holds such a special place in my heart—gathering with family, savoring delicious meals, and honoring our cherished traditions. In the midst of a hectic and challenging year, it’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters. Thanksgiving offers a wonderful opportunity to pause and 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝘆𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀, serving as a powerful reminder to 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝘀. Gratitude has been shown to significantly enhance well-being and happiness. A recent Harvard Medical School article shared several 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲: 🔸 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥? 🔸 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘮 𝘐 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘳? 🔸 𝘞𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘢𝘮 𝘐 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘳? 🔸 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘐 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘦, 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸, 𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘱 𝘐 𝘴𝘢𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘺? 🔸 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘮 𝘐 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬, 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘩, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘺? 🔸 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘰𝘳 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺?
