Technology enablement in supply chain is no longer a back-office function, but a top 3 priority agenda point for organizations. How can senior IT leaders make sure that these transformations are a success?   This was the question posed at the roundtable workshop I hosted together with @Julian Fischer and @Shayn Kail at the @Gartner IT Symposium. The experiences shared speak to the need for a clear roadmap for supply chain transformation and the ways CIOs can add value.   We left the session with three big take-aways: 1) Technology is important, but not a silver bullet 2) Investments in process maturity pay dividends 3) Successful change is anchored in people engagement and empowerement, upskilling and tangible value creation   In the workshop and over the past 4 days at the conference, it has been fantastic to speak with IT leaders from across industries and the globe and discover that so many of the challenges in technology implementation and opportunities for value creation are similar for all companies. Recent tech advancements and the expansion of the hybrid workforce has made organizational alignment increasingly difficult to achieve. As organizations struggle to ‘row together’, we see a gap between importance and effectiveness in achieving strategic priorities. How can leaders close the gap? Creo surveyed 250+ supply chain executives focusing on their priorities, challenges, technology, and people. We discovered true alignment is a bigger issue than organizations realize: o  Just under half of Supply Chain executives recognize an opportunity to improve alignment between their function and the rest of the organization. o  82% of respondents rate customer prioritization as a high priority, yet only 11% cite service as a top 2 KPI. o  80% of respondents plan to invest heavily in advanced technologies and ERP in the next three years, but 60% report underleveraged technology in their organization. Organizational alignment is one of the greatest challenges teams are facing. Leading companies will drive alignment by elevating S&OP, connecting strategic priorities to KPIs, and cascading their vision throughout the organization.
