A major challenge facing students when they begin their university studies, is how to choose the right major or field. Generally speaking, a good choice is based on a certain number of parameters: the grades obtained in secondary school, the student's abilities, his preferences, future job opportunities, etc. Today, Artificial intelligence, and particularly Recommendation systems, can constitute an important support that helps students making the best choice. It is in this perspective that we conducted our latest research which has just been accepted in the “International Conference on Emerging Intelligent Systems for Sustainable Development”. Congratulations to all the authors Sarra Aouadi and Dr Toufik MARIR from Oum El Bouaghi university.
Exciting News! I am glad to announce that our research paper, titled **Advancing Education: Hybrid Recommendation Systems for Best-Fit Student Domain Matching**, has been accepted for presentation at the **International Conference on Emerging Intelligent Systems for Sustainable Development**! 🎉 This work was a collaborative effort with the esteemed Dr. Toufik MARIR and Pr. Mohammed Lamine Kherfi, PhD. Together, we have explored innovative decision-making support systems to assist new students in choosing the path that best suits their abilities and skills. We look forward to sharing our findings and contributing to the advancement of educational technology. Stay tuned for more updates! #Research #Education #Technology #HybridRecommendationSystems #StudentSuccess #Conference #machinelearning #RecommendationSystem

Last one before the weekend... Thanks Liz Rattray for flagging! "The collaboration between university and industry has emerged as a powerful catalyst for research impact and innovation. While some may harbour reservations about the potential drawbacks of such partnerships, a growing body of evidence demonstrates their ability to significantly enhance research outcomes. By joining forces with industry, universities gain access to invaluable resources, including state-of-the-art technology, funding, and real-world insights that would be difficult to obtain independently. However, it is essential to acknowledge the potential challenges, such as workload management, intellectual property disputes, and conflicts of interest, that may arise in these collaborations. This brief explores the benefits, challenges, and actionable recommendations for universities, industry partners, and policymakers to strengthen collaboration between universities and industry." https://lnkd.in/ew7NmbZK via UIIN

Our researcher Bronwen Deacon will be presenting at the CHER - Consortium of Higher Education Researchers conference at the Universität Luxemburg today. The paper, "Resisting Digital Change at Higher Education Institutions: Identifying Triggers and Countermeasures," by Dr. Melissa Laufer, Bronwen Deacon, Maricia A. Mende, Tiana Tschache, Dr. Len Ole Schäfer examines the emotional and organisational roots of resistance to #EdTech in universities. Change at the university has often been difficult, characterised by tensions between tradition and innovation. #Digital change in particular has been met with critical voices. By studying 68 staff members across 8 European universities, our ‘Organisational Resilience and Creativity’ research team reveals that resistance often stems from feelings of being overwhelmed, fear of #technology, concerns about job security, and ideological conflicts surrounding what constitutes educational quality. The presentation will also explore whether resistance should always be overcome, or whether it can provide valuable insights for digital transformation. 👉 Learn more about our ORC project: https://lnkd.in/g_JKBZkv
