On Tuesday, at the Global Mobility Call in Madrid, our CEO, Josep Laborda, participated in the session ‘𝘉𝘦𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦: 𝘜𝘴𝘦𝘳-𝘊𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘤 𝘋𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘔𝘰𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺' moderated by Esade Professor Esteve Almirall. 💡 The discussion highlighted a key question: how can we design mobility systems that truly influence and align with user behaviour? From creating safer cycling lanes to leveraging digital platforms, the session explored how tailoring solutions to people’s habits and preferences can encourage greener travel choices like walking, cycling, public transport, and shared mobility. 🤔 What were the takeaways of Josep’s participation? 🚲 Infrastructure matters To get more people cycling, secure and well-designed bike lanes are critical. That’s why we’ve developed Lane Patrol, a tool that offers data-driven insights to identify potential hazards and improve the cycling infrastructure to help reduce crashes and injuries. 📊 Microincentives in action As we’ve explored in our study ‘Microincentives to sustainable mobility in Europe’, small, targeted rewards can be a powerful tool to nudge users towards sustainable behaviours. Get the report 👉 https://lnkd.in/dhY8-kcR 📱 Changing people’s habits is not an easy task, but #RIDEAL can be a helping hand This innovative platform developed by FACTUAL incentivises commuters to adopt eco-friendly transport modes, creating measurable behavioural shifts that benefit urban mobility and the environment. See 👉 https://rideal.mobi/ At FACTUAL, we remain committed to understanding and influencing user behaviour to shape smarter, more sustainable mobility solutions. Amsterdam Centraal Station is the ultimate 'Mobility Hub' where most all modes converge together, including gigantic cruise ships, rail, ferry, tram, bus, subway, automobiles and, of course, bicycles. It is estimated that the station is used and/or accessed by close to 200K passengers a day and half of those are cyclists. The station and land area use has evolved since it was built in the late 1800s, and the De Ruijterkade cycle route shown on my ride here on the north side of the station adjacent to River IJ used to be dominated by automobiles as recently as 1997-- but with the continued preeminence of the bicycle, that has suitably evolved City of Amsterdam Amsterdam Bike City Dutch Cycling Embassy I amsterdam #Amsterdam #TheNetherlands #bicycleinfrastructure #mobilityhub #bicycleurbanism #activetransportation #bicyclecity #AmsterdamCentraal #multimodalism #velohagen

We are on-air! The communication campaign linked to "Adotta una ciclabile”(Adopt a Bike Lane), the new project in Italy by KLM – Royal Dutch Airlines, is live. Radio spots, press specials, newsletters, and much more are designed to inform the public and encourage them to cycle as much as possible! At KLM, we are committed to involving citizens from candidate cities (awaiting potential new adhesions): the more they participate by uploading their daily bike routes on the PisteCiclabili.com app, the greater the contribution to the maintenance we will support! 😊 Indeed, KLM's "Adotta una ciclabile" project aims to promote a healthier lifestyle and encourage urban mobility by covering the maintenance costs of bike lanes in Italian municipalities. In 2023, Naples was the first to secure funds for the maintenance of about 2 km of routes. For 2024, another 5 km of maintenance are up for grabs among all participating cities. #KLM #AdoptABikeLane #urbanmobility #sustainability #cycling #BikeLanes

🌍🚲 Exciting News from #VeloCity2024 in Ghent, Belgium! 🚲🌍 We are thrilled to share that Lucie Anderton CEnv, Head of Sustainability at UIC - International union of railways #UICrail, participated in the Velo-city conference held from June 18-21. Trains may not always take people door to door, but when paired with bicycles, they offer one of the most sustainable ways to travel. The #European project RAIL4CITIES, backed by Europe's Rail Joint Undertaking, has been conducting a series of Living Labs across Europe to explore how to create more seamless connections between trains and bikes, helping people enjoy more car-free days. At #VeloCity2024, Lucie Anderton @uicrail shared key findings with the audience, emphasizing the crucial role of stations as mobility hubs. “Stations are key, they have the power to convene active and collective low carbon transport as a mobility hub.” Key Takeaways: ✔️ Stations must prioritize space for cycling services over cars, with safe and convenient bike storage and signage. ✔️ Technology services can simplify cycling with combined ticketing and up-to-date bike-friendly information. ✔️ Railways can collaborate with cycling partners to enhance their offerings for cyclists and make sustainable tourism more attractive. Together, we can create a more sustainable future by making rail and cycling the go-to options for travel! #Sustainability #Rail4cities #Cycling #GreenTravel #SustainableTourism #ActiveTransport

''Cargo Bikes, the Solution for City Logistics'' If you're serving customers in cities, you're probably aware that cities are applying various measures to discourage cars and vans. In recent years, European cities have increasingly implemented zero-emission zones to combat pollution. These zones allow only electric vehicles, leading to fresher air, healthier residents and a shift towards sustainable transportation solutions like Cargo Bikes. Additionally, in those cities, there's a noticeable decrease in available parking spaces due to factors like urban growth, redevelopment and a push for sustainable transport. In areas where space is available, parking rates are likely to increase. Lastly, more and more cities, including Paris and Brussels, have implemented the 30 km/h speed limit for several years. Recently, Amsterdam joined this trend, with a focus on improving traffic safety and promoting a more sustainable and liveable urban environment. In coming posts, we'll dive into all benefits of Cargo Bikes that, given these developments, often make them the best solution for city logistics. For more information about Cargo Bikes, feel free to visit our website. #decadeofthecargobike #zeroemission #innovation #citylogistics #sustainability

Sustainability and being enviromentally-friendly are 2 aspects of cycling which make it more appealing than driving a motor vehicle - Now the WBIA (World Bicycle Industry Association) wants to bring greater sustainability to bike production and distribution as a whole with the Sustainable Supply Chain project 🚲 As global bike and e-bike production increases, so will the need for the Industry to become more and more sustainable 🚲 Giant are already onboard with this initiative, as is CONEBI, but without a doubt it will take a great deal of effort from everyone across many companies and players in the Industry for it to truly work - Some panel discussions regarding education, energy, and eco-design were conducted at the recent Taipei Cycle Show, and others will be developed at Eurobike in July, with the official project due to begin in August, although it has been several years in the making 🚲 As well as environmental benefits, sustainable initiatives are also a business opportunity, whether customers are willing to pay more for 'greener' products, or because you might develop or deliver your products cheaper, there can also be a financial benefit, too 🚲 Possibly the most immediately pressing topic for those in Europe will be the implementation of EU regulations on e-bike batteries - if much of the production is taking part in, e.g. China, then working closely and ensuring standards are adhered to is going to be key for success - This is obviously a far-reaching initiative, get it done well and everyone can benefit... ================================= As a Business English coach and Bike fan, I regularly post on both topics. Follow or connect so you don't miss any updates 🚲 I'm off to keep up with the #30DEB Challenge and check out Paris-Roubaix https://lnkd.in/dnY_Y2BX

🌍 This Sunday marks European Car Free Day, part of the larger European Mobility Week, and even though it falls on a weekend this year, it’s still a powerful reminder of how we can reduce our environmental impact through our daily choices. At DEKRA Technology & Services, we are dedicated to sustainability, which is why we encourage our team to use public transport. To make this easier, we offer a benefit that covers the cost of public transportation within the city. Our office is conveniently accessible by public transport, so opting for greener travel is both practical and beneficial. 🚇 We’ve also made sure that cycling is an option, with dedicated bike storage facility on-site for those who prefer to pedal to work. 🚲 By taking small steps, like choosing public transit, cycling or even walking, we can all reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to a healthier environment. Let’s carry this mindset beyond the week and into our daily lives. 🌱 #EuropeanCarFreeDay #EuropeanMobilityWeek #SustainabilityAtWork #PublicTransport
