I've given this project ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for a few reasons.... 🔹 Building Type: Residential 🔹 Location: Stratford, London 🔹 Completed: 2016 🔹 Architect: Allies and Morrison 🔹 Main Contractor: Lendlease 🔹 Key Supply Chain Partners: Byrne Bros (Formwork), Schüco UK Limited, AGC INTERPANE, Telling Architectural Systems. R W Simon Ltd, SFS Group, Wraxalls. In my experience a project is more likely to have a successful outcome if the key supply chain partners engage early to plan the delivery & consider potential problems. Lendlease recognised this and Lindner Prater Ltd were employed under a PCSA to complete key design & planning activities including, production of a 4D model to visualise sequence, duration & logistics. In addition, the innovative climbing platform access methodology allowed "stick build" construction to be utilised on these two highrise towers, where often a unitised facade solution would be employed. With the platforms rising every eight days, absolute focus was needed from the entire project team to deliver completed floors of facade on time & in full. Combine this with great collaboration throughout the supply chain & the result is a project successfully delivered & a pair of stunning apartment blocks. Lightness through glass: 213 tons of glass, in 8535 individually shaped 3, 4 and 5-sided glass elements, catch the light and give the construction an impressive lightness The transparency of the glass blurs the boundaries between inside and outside and creates a light-flooded.spatial experience Heart of the construction: 4592 unique and different steel knots, including 1 piece of scrap (approx. 0.2%), milled from 31 5 tons of raw material, form the heart of the construction. State-of-the-art technology and precise manufacturing guarantee the highest quality and durability. Stable net: 8994 steel rods with a total length of 7500 meters form a strong net that stabilizes the structure. 6000 precise welded connections join the individual elements together to form an inseparable whole. Engineering specialist makes Derby their new home An engineering specialist has relocated to Derby in a move that places them in the centre of engineering greatness. Salloway Property Consultants completed the off-market deal after long standing clients, Ivygrove, started redeveloping a once forgotten corner of industrial units in Derby. As industrial stock is considerably low in the market currently, landlords and developers are having to look elsewhere to create attractive space. William Speed MRICS Speed of Salloway Property Consultants said, “I was aware that Ivygrove were redeveloping these industrial units at Parcel Terrace and that they would do an excellent job as always. It did take some persuading, but I knew all along that the property would be a perfect fit for Bennett Engineering!” Seleena Creedon, director of Bennett Engineering added: “We were looking for Derby premises; Will had been helpful showing us a range of offices available however when we mentioned industrial units as being part of our future plan, he knew exactly what to show us to make them today’s plans! Unit 5 was looking good when Will showed us around in May, we had lots of questions and Will was super helpful in answering them. The unit has been brilliantly renovated and this little area is thriving, it’s so busy each day which is a real buzz to be part of. We’ve also managed to put our own stamp on the place already too with our vision of using a mezzanine floor as our design office space coming to life. This move has enabled us to add new services for Bennett Engineering’s clients including manufacturing and assembly which has already been well received. The Ivygrove team have been so helpful, and we couldn’t be more delighted to be Unit 5’s new tenants.” William Speed added: “This off market letting further confirms the fact that the industrial market in Derby is still experiencing high demand whilst stock levels can’t keep up. office policies. The holy grail of corporate functioning. Or, as most of us see them when we start our careers, *stringent, slightly terrifying, and utterly incomprehensible*. Back when I was a fresher, I used to think these policies were designed solely to confuse my 20-something brain. Now, having spent years in the field (and multiple HR sessions later), I realize they’re not here to confuse—they’re here to *control chaos*. And let’s be honest, given how architects thrive on last-minute creativity, chaos is practically our second nature. At R Design, where the majority of us are below 35, the vibes—and not big on following rules. Sure, there are a few over-35 exceptions, but they blend in so well that they might as well be honorary millennials. So naturally, I couldn’t help but wonder: why not have an open-minded, slightly Hogwarts-inspired approach to policies? After all, if Dumbledore could run a school full of mischief-makers with a twinkle in his eye, surely we can manage an office full of creatives without making everyone feel like they’re in Azkaban. Now, don’t get me wrong. With every power comes responsibility (*cue Spiderman theme music*), and policies are here to remind us of this. At the end of the day, policies are like the rules of Quidditch—necessary to keep the game fair, but let’s not forget we’re here to *play*.
