“June 2, 2020 Dear Hiring Manager: I had the great pleasure of working with Justin when we were both at Gap Inc. Justin reported directly to me when I lead Global Store Design for Gap Inc. Justin is a truly creative individual. He is both innovative and a conceptual thinker. He is comfortable with both blue-sky design and zooming down into the details. He is a team player, able to establish effective relationships and build teams and partnerships easily. He has a true ability to multi-task and works on many different design projects at one time, finding cross-functional synergies that outlast any singular project initiative. He is extremely talented with a high level of business acumen. I frequently received positive feedback on Justin’s work from cross-functional business partners. He is not afraid to step in and lead; he brings cross-functional partners together in creative problem solving. He is an adaptive leader. He takes the time to understand the needs of his business partners and also the needs of the projects. An example of this is the work he did with the Gap Body merchants to develop a scalable retail concept to grow the Gap Body business. He designed the fixtures, the displayers and the signage to meet merchant and visual requirements to attain a tier 3 assortment (Gap Body’s largest assortment level) into one 12-foot shop. The results of this design test were so positive that it was rolled out globally to all stores. Justin also has amazing design skills and technical knowledge when it comes to exterior architecture as demonstrated by his work on Gap’s high-profile store in Walnut Creek, CA. Justin is not just a one note designer; he is comfortable designing in different voices for different purposes. He can design anything from architectural environments down to the smallest of displayers. He is flexible, and he is fast. Along with his creative skills, he has incredible technical skills both in how a building or fixture goes together and also his ability to think in 3D. He produces the most beautiful renderings – fast. Another quality I really appreciate about Justin is that he is easy to work with; he is not at all temperamental but is incredible passionate about design. He is an end-to-end thinker and is as passionate about how his designs are executed as he is about their conceptual development. Justin loves challenge and will take it all on. He has demonstrated his ability to work with other creatives, he is a pro when it comes to managing outside consultants, and fixture vendors all in different time zones. Justin’s abilities and skillsets are far above his current position he has been doing director level work. There are not that many truly creatives out there and Justin happens to be one of the best I have ever worked with. Sincerely, Nina Ricciardi Sr. Director Store Design Macy’s Inc. 11 Penn Plaza New York, New York 10001 ”

This project provides much-needed housing within the downtown with easy access to the services and amenities available in the vicinity. The building is a comfortable and attractive scale, and coupled with the materials, textures, and mass/fenestration patterns, fits seamlessly into the neighborhood context. The apartments are attractive; open and filled with natural light. The thought applied to keeping floor to floor heights down, permitting an additional floor and making the project financially feasible, is well executed and appreciated."
