As LED technology continues to evolve, I discovered some pivotal insights on design principles that maintain their significance more than ever. I would like to share my top FIVE 🖐 takeaways for enhancing our architectural projects: 1️⃣ Design Versatility: LED's inherent directionality allows for precision in creating atmosphere and highlighting architectural elements. 2️⃣ Color Stability: Unlike traditional lighting, LEDs maintain their color quality when dimmed, offering consistent aesthetic appeal. 3️⃣ Energy Efficiency: LEDs provide higher lumens per watt, making them a sustainable choice for long-term projects. 4️⃣ Health and Wellness: Lighting designs that consider circadian rhythms can significantly improve the well-being of occupants. 5️⃣ Innovative Controls: The advancement in wireless technologies and smart controls allows for dynamic and responsive lighting environments. For a deeper dive into how these principles can be applied in modern lighting design, I recommend checking out this insightful article: The More LED Technology Evolves, the More Principles of Good Design Matter. https://lnkd.in/gRmnZrGd #codelumen #lightingdesign #lightingdesigner #architecturallighting #lighting #architecture

𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 Creating an exceptional lighting design starts with understanding the space and its tasks. Here’s a summarized example how we evolved an office lighting project: 𝑰𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑨𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒚𝒔𝒊𝒔: The first image shows the basic floor plan with desks and a T-grid ceiling, highlighting the need for detailed analysis of layout and activities. 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒑𝒕 𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒑𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 - 2𝒙4 𝑳𝑬𝑫 𝑷𝒂𝒏𝒆𝒍𝒔: We initially proposed 2x4 LED panels (second image), which provided uniform illumination but lacked architectural integration and task-specific lighting. 𝑹𝒆𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒑𝒕 - 𝑨𝒓𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒍 𝑳𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝑳𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈: The third image introduces linear lighting aligned with desk orientation and ventilation ducts (shown in the last image), creating a cohesive and elegant look, enhancing visual comfort and architectural harmony. 𝑬𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒚 𝑬𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏: Linear fixtures offered superior energy efficiency and simpler installation compared to 2x4 panels. This choice reduced power consumption, labor costs, and installation time. 𝑽𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏: The fourth image's photometric analysis validated the design's light levels. The fifth image shows the completed space, demonstrating uniform, glare-free illumination and enhanced aesthetics. Sometimes you wonder how lights actually illuminate anything from that high up... One thing for sure it's not going be an off the shelf option.... This high end industrial facility had a few tough asks in terms of getting the correct light levels and especially uniformity. As this project had an area which was going to be an engineering facility, getting to correct uniformity at the height of the work surfaces was going to be critical. This meant we had to use the correct lens/optic to spread the light as far as we possibly could to achieve the greatest overlap of light from luminaire to luminaire. Credit must go to the installation team, what an outstanding job! If you have a project coming up where you need a certain amount of light on a surface then please give us a call as we can provide you with a full lighting design, where we choose the right product for your application, let us relieve you of this work, as we take design responsibility....... This includes emergency design. We will never try and shoehorn a product range into your spaces, if it isn't right for you it won't be seen in your project! #intulux #lighting #lightingdesign #lightingsolutions

🏢 In the architectural industry, there are several applications where only a small area of a glass sheet is sputtered while the rest of the glass is left uncoated. These applications often require precise, localized coatings for functionality, aesthetics, or specific performance enhancements. Here are some key examples: 🏠 Smart Windows and Privacy Glass The Intelligen Glass Control application can be used to adjust privacy or shading as needed, for example, from desired sectors. 🐦 Decorative Elements Small logos or patterns can be coated onto windows, doors, or partitions to add aesthetic or functional value, such as with Bird Safe glass. 🖥 Integrated Displays Sputtering can be used to create small, integrated display areas on larger glass surfaces, such as digital signs or interactive touchscreens in public spaces, offices, or retail environments. Embeds functionality while maintaining the overall transparency and openness of the architectural design. Volframi's technology offers new opportunities for the production of these applications 💡

In the realm of sustainable architecture and design, natural daylight is a pivotal element that greatly influences the health and well-being of occupants. The WELL Building Standard, a performance-based system for measuring, certifying, and monitoring features of the built environment, places a strong emphasis on optimizing natural daylight. One of the key strategies to achieve this is through effective glazing. Glazing, the use of glass in windows, doors, and facades, is instrumental in maximizing the penetration of natural light into interiors. High-performance glazing solutions, such as double or triple glazing, low-emissivity (Low-E) coatings, and smart glass technologies, can significantly enhance daylight availability while minimizing glare and heat gain. These advancements ensure that buildings not only benefit from ample natural light but also maintain energy efficiency. Incorporating ample natural daylight through strategic glazing has several benefits aligned with the WELL Building Standard. It enhances the circadian rhythm of occupants, leading to better sleep patterns and overall well-being. Moreover, natural light has been shown to boost productivity and mood, creating a more positive and healthier work environment. However, optimizing natural daylight requires a careful balance. Excessive glare and heat gain can counteract the benefits. Therefore, integrating shading devices, such as blinds or automated shades, can help manage light levels effectively. Additionally, the placement and orientation of glazed surfaces should be strategically planned to maximize daylight penetration and minimize adverse effects. In conclusion, the right to light is an essential aspect of the WELL Building Standard. By leveraging advanced glazing technologies and thoughtful design strategies, architects and designers can create spaces that promote health, well-being, and energy efficiency, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for building occupants.
