Thanksgiving can be one of the most challenging times of the year for those who are grieving. As we gather with loved ones, the absence of someone special can feel especially heavy, making it hard to fully engage in the festivities. If you’re finding this season difficult, here are a few coping tips that may help: Acknowledge Your Feelings: Allow yourself to feel whatever comes up—sadness, joy, or even confusion. It’s okay to express your emotions. Create a New Tradition: Consider honoring your loved one by incorporating a new tradition, such as lighting a candle or sharing a memory during the meal. Set Boundaries: It’s okay to step away from conversations or activities if they become overwhelming. Take breaks as needed. Reach Out: Connect with friends or family who understand your grief. Sharing your feelings can provide comfort and support. Practice Self-Care: Make time for yourself. Whether it’s taking a walk, journaling, or indulging in a favorite hobby, prioritize activities that bring you peace. Remember, you’re not alone in this journey. It’s okay to experience joy and sorrow side by side.

The holiday season can be especially tough when you’re grieving the loss of a loved one💔 Traditions can feel bittersweet, but they’re also a way to honor their memory. Whether it’s baking their favorite treats, watching their go-to holiday movie, or lighting a candle in their honor, continuing these traditions can bring comfort and keep their legacy alive. But it’s also okay to start new traditions that feel right for you now. Maybe it’s volunteering in their memory, creating a photo album, or simply taking time to reflect. There’s no right or wrong way to navigate the holidays while grieving—just allow yourself the space to feel and heal. Remember, there’s no right or wrong way to approach the holidays while grieving. Give yourself permission to feel all your emotions and adjust as needed. Traditions, old or new, can become a way to honor the love and memories you hold while finding moments of peace and hope in the holiday season. 🛑Join me in December for UPROOTED, a 3 week e-course that utilizes a therapeutic and biblical method to healing from past hurt!
