Honoring Life. Delivering Compassion.
About us
We're a community-based, non-profit that takes pride in hopeful, compassionate, expert care that recognizes that life continues even when there is no cure. We work with patients, families, caregivers, and patients' physicians to control symptoms at home so all can focus on what matters: what patient and family want life to look like for the next several months. In all our programs--home hospice care, home palliative care, inpatient care at our Compassionate Care Center--our goal is simple: to help patients and caregivers achieve the highest quality of life, as they define it. We emphasize dignity, hope, and compassion as we provide specialized medical and team care to manage pain, symptoms, and other challenges while empowering and supporting caregivers. We work alongside patients and families to make every moment matter. Read more about us at www.hospicecareplus.org, or savor inspiring stories of our patients, families, and staff as they pursue bucket-list wishes together--truly making every moment matter-- at www.hcpblogs.com. Then, contact us: learn about our programs, become a volunteer, apply for employment, give your financial support, or interact with us on Facebook. We are a non-profit hospice serving Madison, Estill, Jackson, Lee, Owsley and Rockcastle counties in Kentucky. We offer both hospice and palliative care as well as a bereavement program. We also own and operate the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, a short-term inpatient hospice facility for symptom management and respite care.

It’s been requested that we share the poem written by chaplain Sally Iseral for our yearly Remembrance Tree Ceremony. She’s graciously agreed, and we couldn’t be happier to share this with you. The article below features poems from 2023 and 2024, as well as a few words from Sally about what these poems mean to her. Please join us as we wish Donna Tapley a fond, though reluctant, farewell as she begins her retirement. In her 27 years of service, Donna has seen and contributed to many hospice milestones, from the initiation of our Palliative Care and Grief Support Programs to the completion of our Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. The number of lives Donna has touched throughout her career is immeasurable. She believes family is one of the most important gifts bestowed upon us. She made all her colleagues and every patient and loved one feel like part of that family. Though we will miss her presence dearly, we know her seventeen wonderful grandchildren and three beautiful great-grandchildren will be overjoyed to have more of her time. Congratulations, Donna! Our heartfelt thanks to EnerSys Richmond for taking the time each holiday season to deck the halls at our Compassionate Care Center. They create lovely Christmas trees and wreaths that make our main entrance warm and inviting. We can't thank them enough for bringing holiday spirit to the patients, families, visitors, staff, and volunteers at our inpatient facility.
