ADHD – What I have learnt? As we come to the end of ADHD awareness month, I thought it would be appropriate to share a little about my awareness of ADHD. Unless you have ADHD yourself or someone you are close to does, it can be hard to understand that it’s a mercurial condition which shows up differently for all. It ebbs and flows bringing wonderful highs and scary lows. Earlier this year, I qualified as an ADHD coach with the amazing Leanne Maskell at ADHD works. In my group of 16, I was one of only two ‘neurotypical’ delegates. As well as learning some fabulous tools to help ADHDers, I came away 1) knowing what it felt like to be the different one – I was conscious that my brain was working differently to most of the others in the room 2) filled with hope. The sessions were noisy, passionate, purposeful and quite brilliant. Spending time with a room full of ADHDers was quite something - our conversations we insightful, inspiring and different. The creativity was visceral. I am so lucky to have learnt about ADHD and now know so much more about how to help ADHDers navigate the ebbs and flows. I hope that understanding more about ADHD will help me to help others. What are you doing to learn about others this year? Remember when you first met? ❤️ Then came responsibilities and ADHD. LionTamers offer Coaching and support for ADHD affected partners and family. Coaching for a partner affected by extreme ADHD behaviour becomes crucial when the individual with ADHD struggles to take responsibility for their actions. In such cases, partner coaching offers invaluable support by providing practical strategies, coping mechanisms, and a structured framework for both partners to navigate the challenges stemming from unmanaged ADHD. Through coaching, the non-ADHD partner gains insights into ADHD’s impact on behaviour, communication, finances, relationship dynamics, fostering empathy and understanding. Additionally, coaching empowers the non-ADHD partner with tools to set boundaries (possible financial) manage expectations, and implement effective communication strategies, ultimately fostering a healthier and more harmonious relationship despite the challenges posed unmanaged ADHD. #partnersofadhd #adhdfallout #adhdpartnercoaching
