What do your leadership team need? More time? We worked with a high performing leadership team last week. Though they have had a strong year, when we looked back at their learnings from the year, the one thing they said they really needed more of was time. They asked my view "from what you see in other great teams, what can we do to create time?" Tricky but here's my answer:- 1. Get super smart about how you run your meetings. They said that they spend much of their time in meetings, so they need to take a careful look at how they maximise this time. I challenged them to look at ensuring their meeting time is purposeful, well managed and gives them the right balance of decision making and co creation. 2. Invest in their own teams. Often the weight of the workload and all the key decisions sit with the top team, leaving them feeling overwhelmed and their key talent feeling frustrated. I asked them who in their teams could they develop to take on more. What else would you suggest? I'd love to add to this list! This week CoDevelop worked with a team who are heading into the launch phase of a very exciting new medicine. Their wicked issues featured how they shape reimbursement, how they set the commercial team up for success and how they stay resilient through the noise of the launch. Solving wicked issues requires everyone to get involved, the collective intelligence of the whole team that extends beyond individual talent.
