In business, operational efficiency and sales best practices often collide. A good example is the debate around credit card processing fees versus ACH payments. Operationally, it seems simple: incentivize ACH to save on fees, and if customers prefer using a credit card, they pay a bit more to cover the cost. But when viewed through a sales lens, this approach can backfire. Here's why: When we focus too much on the operational side—saving fees by pushing ACH payments—we may unintentionally create friction for the customer. While it’s great to encourage ACH, some customers might not have the cash readily available and feel penalized for using their credit card. This can lead to hesitation, or worse, delays: “Can we hold off until next month when I get my bonus, so I can avoid the fee?” In this scenario, we’ve added an obstacle. It may feel like the sale is already closed once you’re at the payment stage, but introducing even small barriers can disrupt momentum and potentially cost you the deal. The key takeaway? Operational best practices are critical for margins and efficiency, but they shouldn’t come at the expense of a seamless customer experience. The sale isn’t complete until the payment is processed. Prioritizing simplicity and removing friction ensures the customer journey remains smooth, even if it means accepting a small hit on processing fees. In the long run, you’ll close more deals and maintain stronger relationships by focusing on customer convenience.

💰 Ladder made $1M in May on 90k downloads They also have 100% trial start rate Or you could call it 0% trial start rate...wait, what? 🪜 Ladder uses a reverse trial to auto-start the trial without having to enter payment info 💩 If you have a shitty product, this tactic isn't for you. ❓ How do they make it work? ▪️ They have a product that exudes value, with extremely high-quality videos of their coaches during onboarding ▪️ They offer personalization early in onboarding to suggest coaches that match your needs ▪️ They build in incentives to drive engagement early ▪️ They don't have a shitty product 🙂 The tactic I love is making users complete the “Welcome Workout” to unlock the rest of the app. 🚀 Activation is always a huge challenge and one of the most important things to drive long-term retention and usage. They continue to use this tactic by rewarding 3 completed workouts with more unlocked content and features. The reverse trial can be a great tactic if you’re confident in the value and quality of your product. 🤔 Why? Because you get most new users trying your premium features vs the normal 10-20% of users starting a trial. You shouldn't expect to switch to a reverse trial without changing anything else in your product and see good results. You need to change the new user experience, so that: ▪️ Users are very aware they’re accessing premium features ▪️ You have strong engagement hooks early in the experience ▪️ You actually have a valuable product people want to use (I guess that’s bigger than just the new user experience…) This isn't the only way to use a reverse trial. 👋 ➡️ Check out Retention . Blog to see how Uptime and Flightly use a reverse trial in different ways. I especially like Flightly's implementation and think it could make sense for other apps that have real-world elements.

"Hey Mona," "Can you tell me about setting up my own business? I can’t deal with Uncle Sam and his taxes." I chuckled, not to make fun, but because I’ve been there. I remember when I had my six figure job. The joy was out of here; I said to myself, "I’ve made it." Well, Uncle Sam had other plans. With our household income, we owed the IRS over $10,000. The pain of writing that check; I knew there had to be another way. God smiled at me because I decided to pursue entrepreneurship. Oh my! Did I make some discoveries? As an employee, they take taxes and then whatever is left they give me. Guess what? As a business owner, I pay my expenses, and whatever is left, I pay taxes. Don’t get me wrong; 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲, But if you have the drive or you’re already doing something entrepreneurial, Legalize it, grow your business and enjoy the benefits. Because these are some 10+ deductions you could enjoy:  1.  Deduct all ordinary business expenses.  2.  Deduct home office costs like the mortgage.  3.  Deduct car expenses with mileage or actual.  4.  Deduct airfare, hotels, meals for travel.  5.  Deduct 50% of meals with clients.  6.  Deduct employee wages and benefits.  7.  Deduct legal, accounting, professional fees.  8.  Deduct education costs that improve skills.  9.  Deduct up to $5,000 in startup costs. 10.  Fully deduct advertising and marketing costs.      PS: I’m not a business startup consultant, nor a tax expert. Many average reply rates on emails are less than 10%. Conversion rates for cold calls can be 2-5%. Lots of misses. The biggest miss of all is not swinging, shooting, emailing, calling at all.

Tesla recently laid of 14,000 people. 13,000 Dell & SAP employees - gone. I understand that people are mad. But behind the anger, there's a bigger opportunity. An opportunity to prepare. Because when profit is down, shareholders are panicked, and board members are upset, layoffs are the next thing coming. One moment you're a valuable piece of the "family", and then suddenly you aren't. That sucks. No matter how loved you feel, no matter how close you are to your boss, no matter how much they rolled out the red carpet during onboarding...in the end? It's a math decision. You're a number on a spreadsheet. I've been there. Is it fair? Maybe. Maybe not. Is it true? 100% The earlier you realize this in your career, the better off you are. So start future-proofing yourself. If you're fortunate enough to be employed, start building out your online brand, share your thoughts & learnings, and engage with other talented people. Create small side hustles and projects. Network like hell. Make yourself impossible to forget. Become synonymous with something that can generate a little income should you need it. Anything. If you've been let go from your job, don't just put the "Open for Work" badge on your profile. Go create something: - Attention - Content - Software - A newsletter - A blog - Audio - Video Whatever. Just create! Don't just tell people you're open for work. *Show* them you're worth working with. - Stand out - Make noise - Be different Be in as many places as you can be. Is anyone doing #backgroundchecks to ensure that someone does not hold a certain type of cryptocurrency yet? I am less concerned with quantity analysis and more concerned with affiliation. Sort of like..... we don't ever hire people who used to work at that one certain prior employer. The legality of this activity is in question. Yet the opposite is happening in that some companies prefer to hire folks familiar with certain cryptocurrencies. Has anyone addressed it yet?

Running an Airbnb is at its core a budgetary endeavor - does the $ you make make it work it for you to continue running an Airbnb? Thus, a big part of Airbnb and short term rental management is the financial end of things. You need $ keep these properties alive and well so brands like Costco Wholesale are critical.
