Baseball on the Radio, Where? The % of listening to baseball while at-home is crazy high. 73+% of the total listening to Braves games is coming from those in-home. How is that possible? I think it's a combination of a bunch of factors. 1) Love for the hometown radio announcers, it's now easier than ever to sync the audio with the video 2) Subscription fatigue, not everyone is willing to pay the extra $ to watch the games 3) The Bally's /Comcast blackout in 12 MLB markets (Atlanta is one of those markets). 4) Easier for the local stations to stream games. Whatever the reason, baseball on the radio is home. (based on all games played up to 6/28, Persons 6+ AQH Persons %)

When you ignore talent because of unfounded bias, like skin color, gender or any non-merit based reason, you miss out on possibilities that can alter the course of your business. Can you visualize what bat speed looks like? The average Bat Speed among MLB players is roughly 75 MPH, with some of the most elite power hitters in the game reaching 85mph. Bat Speed has strong correlations with exit velocity and is one of the main determinants of how fast the ball may travel off the bat. Therefore, Bat Speed is an important metric to identify and understand if your goal is to hit the ball as hard as possible. In Major League Baseball, players have less than 0.4 seconds to react to pitches and decide to swing. While that is already a small time frame, bat speed is a factor that plays a role as it pertains to swing decisions. Hitters with above-average bat speed create a larger margin for error because they can potentially react to pitches later and make solid contact. Player X has to get more direct to the ball. He's got to shorten that swing up. He's too uphill. He's got to go straight to it. Needs to be more down to the baseball. All these phrases and sayings have a place. However, the key ingredients are putting hitters in environments that force the moves to show up that we want.
