BIKE FITNESS COACHING IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE FIRST OFFERING OF OUR NEWLY REVISED 3-DAY BIKE FITTING COURSE Bend, Oregon – 8/15/2024 COURSE OVERVIEW Bike Fitness Coaching is passionate about teaching bike fitting and we are always working on ways to improve our courses. We have recently revised our 3-day bike fitting course significantly to improve the organization and content of this course, changes that we believe will enhance the student’s learning experience. This Zoom-based course now has a modular structure and is divided into two main parts. The first part of the course covers background materials and exercises that must be completed and turned in prior to the start of the course. Topics that we cover in the background material include: (1) Basic Parts of a Bicycle; (2) Tools Required to Adjust Bicycles During a Bike Fit; (3) Bike Sizing; (4) Cycling Relevant Human Anatomy; and (5) Key Measures in Bike Fitting and Software Used to Measure Them. Part two of the course provides a detailed look at the three phases of our bike fit process. Topics included in this part of the course include shoe analyses, cleat positioning, and pedal stance; (2) crank length determination; (3) saddle analyses and positioning; and (4) cockpit adjustments and positioning. Most of the course time (SAT/SUN) will be focused on discussing the module materials that describe our bike fitting process. Golfers get the putting yips, a sudden loss of fine motor skills affecting putting, due to a combination of psychological and neurological factors. Here's a breakdown of the primary causes: 1. Psychological Factors:    Anxiety and Pressure: High-pressure situations can cause excessive anxiety, leading to overthinking and tension, which disrupts the smooth execution of putting.    -Negative Thinking: Fear of failure and negative thoughts can create a self-fulfilling prophecy, where the golfer expects to miss and consequently does.   -Confidence Loss: Previous failures can erode confidence, making it harder to perform well in subsequent attempts. 2. Neurological Factors:    - Focal Dystonia: This is a neurological condition where involuntary muscle contractions disrupt normal movement. I know, I did play this simulator at the Re-Union resort, Nicklaus course, Orlando just in February. Xponential Fitness has appointed an interim CEO, Brenda Morris after the board suspends Anthony Geisler. 📉Shares crashed 33% on the news to his an all time low. "The investigations include allegations of securities fraud and a lack of transparency by the company. Under the direction of Geisler, Xponential (XPOF) is accused of misleading investors by inflating same-store sales and average unit volume metrics as measures of the health of the franchises. The company is also accused of falsely claiming the company has never closed a store, that average stores are not losing money, and for not disclosing that 80% of Xponential’s brands have unprofitable business models." We recently interview Anthony Geisler on LIFTS where he outlined the growth strategy for the leading boutique fitness brand. It is unfortunate to see this action taken - there is always more to the story. One thing was clear to me, Anthony absolutely showed up to work everyday and spent every minute fighting for his vision. There have been several leadership changes in the category recently, including Peloton Interactive and Planet Fitness, who seem to have navigated their respective CEO transitions well. This is a very interesting story. Been following for a while and expected the hammer to come down at any minute. I have firsthand experience working with XPO and while ill let my true feelings reside in the deepest recesses of my brain I can offer a few opinions: XPO definitely has some work to do with their corporate leadership. Some of the brands are still fairly new and you can tell that some of the pups in charge are also new. This is a clear indicator and example on why hiring is so important and needs vetting from various angles specifically from a corporate standpoint. It will be interesting in the up and coming months what brands survive. Apparently 2 of the 10 brands under XPO are turning a profit. Still remains to be seen which those are but I have a few guesses.

Anthony Geisler has been dismissed as CEO of Xponential Fitness following notice of a USAO investigation. The news follows some negative press over the last year, most notably a December 2023 Bloomberg article. Xponential shares took a hit following that article, but Xponential's shares had a good start to the year, and had since recovered to a level HIGHER than when the piece was published. After today's announcement by the company, Xponential shares have dropped by around 30%. Xponential have 11 brands, over 3,000 locations, have been at a $3bn+ valuation, peaking in April 2023. After this news, they stand at a $400m market cap. This is an important story to follow if you're in the boutique fitness space and franchising. A massive shakeup in leadership at Xponential Fitness is going to have many in the boutique fitness industry asking what’s next for the boutique behomoth… Today it was announced that Brenda Morris would replace Anthony Geisler as CEO of Xponential immediately following the announcement of a second federal investigation. The news isn’t necessarily surprising as the brand has been dogged by difficult press since last summit. What is surprising is the juxtaposition between leadership struggles and what is undoubtably been a great start to the year: ▪️Q1 earnings hit $79.52 million in revenue ▪️Total North American memberships grew 17% year over year to 783,000+ members ▪️ And a 25% year over year increase in system wide sales. With a second federal investigation announced there is a dark cloud of questions and concerns hovering over the brand. It shows all the potential in the world, if it can shake off questions over its numbers, concerns over its FDD and franchisee complaints that spiraled into a major article. For now it’s watch and wait to see how this new leadership can shift the conversation, regain franchisee and market trust, all while continuing the growth pattern that has this year looking like Xponential’s best ever.

Our focus is a safer, simpler way to assess strength and rehab athletes faced with injury. I'm interested in hearing what the experts have to say on this one - our conversations naturally go to prehab/rehab and high-risk injuries. Hamstrings are typically at the top of the list for common injuries with intrigue as to how we could assess hamstring strength/endurance. The standard for this has been the Nordic curl. We would pose the straight-leg deadlift or RDL as an appropriate substitute, which was often challenged. However, today, thanks to Adam Sundh we were turned on to a recent study by Austin Driggers, PhD: "Effectiveness of Single Leg Bridge Testing for Determination of Hamstring Injury Risk" The study found that both the eccentric Nordic curl and the isometric single leg bridge are capable of predicting hamstring injuries with relative accuracy. However, what we found interesting is the single leg bridge more accurately reflecting an athlete's posture/mechanics while sprinting. This is important because we stress "assessing athletes through movements that reflect what they do in training or in sport." How much emphasis do you put on biomechanics when assessing performance?
