Proud to Be A #Ninerd
When I switched to Niner Bicycles a few years ago, it was right on the cusp of heading into the most important ride and biggest expedition of my life; my ride down the Ho Chi Minh Trail to find my father. Niner took a big risk by investing in this journey with me. I took a calculated risk starting a new relationship with a group of people I didn’t know. What I did know is that they had a cult-like following who called themselves #Ninerds (my trusted bike mechanic Jason Bauer, owner of Bauerhaus Bikes, loved their bikes and couldn’t keep them in stock). Niner's company motto included the words “people” and “passion.” Those things all pointed in the right direction for me.
I’ve always viewed myself as more of a rider and adventurer than just someone chasing podiums. Niner was excited to allow me to continue to evolve and build my career as I saw fit. When I read the multi-year contract they sent me, the closing requirement was “don’t be an asshole” and that sealed the deal. I felt like their culture and core values matched mine as an athlete and I still feel that way today.
I’m glad we took the risk together in 2014 and the reward continues to build as our partnership grows. I’m proud to be a #Ninerd and proud to announce we are bound for at least two more years together with them as my title sponsor.
I’m also excited to grow with them as the sale of the business is near completion. We have big plans together!
