👻 Nothing gets Adtechies in the spirit of Halloween more than Mark McEachran's recent AdExchanger piece. #RIPCookies Advertising is changing. External drivers such as major FAANG plans no longer overshadow internal sell side strategic initiatives. It turns out executing against roadmap priorities: ♻️ mitigates engineering waste 😨 eliminates scope creep 🎁 secures tangible deliverables 🙄 There is nothing more irritating than committing to a roadmap, but everything under the sun and outside of your control delaying it. We know Google's announcements derailed things more than once. Now that the embrace of Alt IDs is taking shape, its time to focus more on analytic attribution instead of inferred uplift. Answering the question of ROI was always the more important and interesting conversation anyways. That said, Mark does a great job explaining the shift and I'd recommend taking a read if you haven't gotten around to it yet.

I just read a new article on AdExchanger discussing the latest in CTV ad sales technologies. The piece highlights that while current tools are adept at identifying issues like inconsistent campaign pacing or sudden budget spikes as they occur, there's an urgent need for these solutions to not only detect problems but also significantly boost revenue, enhance the viewer experience, and maintain balance in the ad tech marketplace. To push CTV advertising forward, we need algorithms that don't just monitor data in real-time but also actively adapt to changes in the market. These algorithms should prevent common issues like ad saturation and timing errors, making ad campaigns more effective. CTV strategies must focus on profitability and consider viewer satisfaction, minimizing disruptions. By shifting from a reactive to a proactive approach, we can foster a healthier, more fair advertising environment that benefits everyone involved in CTV advertising.

Some good points are made by PubMatic’s Andrew Baron in AdExchanger’s latest Data-Driven Thinking column. Ironically, cookies were never that big of a problem in the first place—your humble, anonymous cookie is far less personal than a hashed email (which, as the FTC recently reminded us, is in fact still PII). But to the writer’s point, years of worrying about their impending deprecation have led to some very positive changes. Another great read from AdExchanger. Allison Schiff continues to shine a light onto the worst of the worst Made For Arbitrage shenanigans. I know some people argue it's tough to differentiate between MFA and simple ad cluttered sites. But the fraud and absolute content garbage is exactly what it looks like. My take?
