My hypothesis is that companies that will mitigate the most regulatory risk are bound to identify authentication providers that will give consumers abundant controls over their privacy, user experience and data usage. Apple is a great example of an operating system that gives consumers advanced controls over their experience and there's a growing number of web or email based platforms that also enable more control. On the email front we've seen that consumers are inclined to register, but if they feel like they are getting spammed, then they will either delete the service or use endemic tools to opt out of communications.
