I booked three new clients this year — three clients who had no idea who TF I was until they landed on my website searching for an SEO 👀 What’s funny is it’s for a service I don’t actively market, mention, or link. My SEO Audit + Optimization is my least talked about service, but it’s the service that books the most through Google — because that’s exactly how I like it 😘 I love chatting about blogging and writing and connecting with brands, but I also love the technical side — the research and reporting, the maintenance and challenges that come with every new update. I loveeeee it. But I don’t love to market it 😅 So, when I have the energy, I use SEO. I write new blog posts mentioning it here and there — I drop it in my shownotes when it makes sense. I think you’re not ready to run ads on LinkedIn (sorry, LI!) if you haven’t yet: Seen results (appointments leading to sales) from: - same ICP through email marketing/cold outreach/linkedin outbound efforts. - know your CPC, CPL, Cost per booked appointment and per-audience no-show rate, as well as cost per sale, and Customer LTV, including how much you can afford to spend to acquire a customer to break even (taking into consideration the cost to service the customer). - and after you did the 2 above, before you decide on LI ads, you need to see, based on your current performance metrics and industry conversion rates, what sort of CPL and CPC you can afford, and compare several platforms where your customers are to decide on one. (Spoiler, most likely your ICP are human beings and they aren’t only on LinkedIn :) Don’t think so? Why?

You're filling out a worksheet. You list your business and marketing goal. Cool. You create an outline with all the different types of clients you want to target and spend an afternoon delving into their personalities and how they think. Extra cool. You break down your goals into a list of action items. Nice. I like that. Then you put those worksheets, outlines, and action items in a white binder and sit those on the desk in your office. You open it once or twice over the next three months, and your action items sit on your task list - quietly pushed to the back. You barely remember why it was important in the first place. I'm not calling anyone out - I've done this many times and I'll probably do it again. The problem with business and marketing systems is that they are completely separated from the day-to-day reality of your business. You set the goals, then go back to your typical routine. These systems do nothing without a human operator. If you want to reach the goals you've set, you have to make it a PRIORITY to carry out the system. That means you (the business owner) has to jump headfirst into whatever worksheet or marketing model you are trying to implement. You also have to make it important for your staff. Don't be the boss that talks about change on Monday then starts something new on Friday. Implementing a system is a business-wide commitment that takes tremendous effort. The system makes your efforts more focused, but worksheets can't send email newsletters, write LinkedIn posts, or review your marketing data. Remember this, and don't let that white binder gather dust.

New client, new story. Happy clients always praise you! Recently, I had the privilege to work with "Clay." Who has a WordPress website, which is okay? But it has issues like:  • Navigation wasn’t clear. • Inappropriate white spaces.  • Few responsive issues. • Not generating sales He posted a job request without any details 😂 Because he has minimal knowledge of websites. We scheduled a call and talked for only 5 minutes. I made a list of what can be fixed. He was amazed and gave me the job. Thinking about the result? Why do local business owners get screwed marketing agencies? If you're getting a website and SEO done who are going to hire if you ask "How much work will I get out of this website site and when will my website rank number 1" Answer A, The Bullshit Answer: You'll get leads every single day, your calendar will be full, you'll be at the top of Google within 3 - 6 months, we guarantee it! Answer B, The Honest Answer: I can't tell how many leads you're going to get until the site is live. There's a lot of factors that go into getting traffic on your website. Do you have a good social media presence or have you a Google Business Profile that's ranking locally? That will help get traffic on to the website. SEO is taking a lot longer these days and it could be 6 - 12 months but there's no guarantees as we don't control the ever changing Google algorithm. It also depends on you getting involved locally, sponsoring events and sports teams, getting local backlinks from them and also providing a good service so people can leave you 5 star reviews. Now after reading those answers, who do you think the local business owner will hire? Yes answer A will most likely win because it's what the business owner wants to hear. This is why businesses get burned by marketing agencies and why marketing agencies get a bad rep. If someone tells you what you want to hear it doesn't mean it's true.

How to drive more traffic to your website in the next 30 days 👇🏻 There are a lot of things local business owners can do to grow their business, but when you have only have time for a few....here is where I would start: 1. SEO: Use Google Business Profile (Start or Optimize) and add keyword rich content to your website. 2. Email: Do you have customers that haven't purchased in a while or you think are "dead" leads? Email them with a great offer. Sometimes what we think is a cold lead is really just a a lead that needed more time. 3. Paid Ads / $1.80 Rule: You can either run paid ads or use Gary Vee's $1.80 rule to give your $.02 on social posts.
