As I look back on the early days of my career in Testing Services, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of gratitude for the lessons learned and the mentors who guided me. One such moment that stands out is from my time working on my first CICS PL/I document under the mentorship of my guru, Sri Rama Subbarao Kopparthi During a resource locking exercise for my document, I attempted to update the same VSAM file record simultaneously from two CICS operator screens. When one operator initiated an update, the second encountered a resource locking error—a significant learning moment! This scenario became an illustrative example of resource contention, and I was fortunate to showcase it as a case study in the Cognizant Academy for Mainframes. Encouraged by this experience, I tried to replicate the same concept with DB2 records. However, I quickly realized my mistake with help of my mentor: DB2, with its sophisticated server architecture, inherently manages its locking mechanisms, making this proof of concept infeasible. My goal is to take the similar kind of screenshot of locking error for DB2 just like VSAM which is not possible through a manual attempt with less number of resource operators attempting to update the same record. #Mainframes #CICS #VSAM #DB2 #ResourceLocking

"The Monday Chronicles: The Legend of Rishi and the Coffee Machine" ☕️😂 There was once a fellow who lived in the land of Corporate Office; and he was called Rishi. Each Monday morning, he would march into battle, armed with naught but hope and determination, and half a to-do list that no longer resembled its original, crumpled shape. Yet his greatest weapon against the Monday blues was none other than the magical Coffee Machine. ☕️ This was not any ordinary Monday, though. The Coffee Machine was. broken. Madness. Rishi's eyes went wide. The to-do list started looking like one of those unsolvable puzzles. But Rishi, the true spirit, recalled those sacred words: "Adapt and overcome." Thus, he improvised—all with tea bags, sheer willpower, and a pep talk in front of the mirror (his coworkers looked away). whipped on by his cocktail and spirit, Rishi fought on through meetings, PowerPoint slides, and strange emails. At 5 PM, the Coffee Machine was mended. He took a sip of his well-earned brew and thought to himself, "If I get this Monday, nothing is impossible." Moral of the story? Mondays come packaged with plot twists you least expect. With adaptability, humor, and maybe a packet of suspicious tea, you are ready to tackle anything they throw your way.
